Abv reduced from 5.7 to 5.6 in 2010.
Its initial sweetness is, apparently, "of roasted and vinous notes with a subtle bitter aftertaste". Strong fruitiness, often with "banana notes" standing out, is derived from Old Peculier’s fermentation process.

A beer I liked years ago that is now back on the market in my area. Hard one to describe. Little carbonation. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head (reminds me of a head of a root beer float), There is a fruity taste, but more like raisins. I get a burnt malt taste to it too,Other flavors I can’t pick out. Drinking solo, it wasn’t as good as I remembered, but I know I will have some more with a nice venison steak tonight. ***Rerated: Second beer drank at warmer temperature. Sweetness came out a bit more. Flavor improved.******

500 ml bottle from some supermarket in Estonia. Pours sort of reddish brown, very small head, little carbonation. Aroma is mainly caramel sweet, has some berry wine notes and candy. Taste is also quite sweet although there is also fair amount of hop bitterness, coming out in the front and also in the aftertaste. I don’t really enjoy that caramel candy sweetness that lies over everything as a blanket. I guess this is not a bad beer but somehow I fail to understand it’s beauty. Dry and bitter aftertaste, that is good.

5.6%, 500ml bottle. Pours dark brown almost black with a thick head initially and retains a smallish but constant head. Mildly carbonated wheat/barley flavour. Some caramel is noticeable and light toastiness of roast barley. Good beer

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a creamy off white head. The aroma is sweet malty and dark fruity with light dark berry road. The flavor is tobacco, toasted malts, dark berries and fruit. It’s a legend as the bottle says...
