COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
First brewed in the 1980s.
This is our premium strength bitter, ruby coloured with a rich flavour and full body. The balance between bitterness and fruitiness from the Bramling Cross and Fuggle hops used give XB the distinctively complex aroma, making it the beer to savour.

Pours a slightly hazy dark amber with a decent off-white head and light lacing. Taste is similar to aroma (except lighter): cherries and plums mixed in a light caramel malt, with a clean floral hop bittering to finish. All would be good were it not for the lack of body; the taste is cut by a watery texture that takes away most of the possibilities. Not as good as it should be.

Great sweet aroma of cherries, grapes, jam, caramel, and nitella. Flavor is a light earthy maltiness, with a slight berry kick. Palate is soft slow and steady

Bottle. Pours copper/amber with a nice off-white head. Amber and flavor are classic English pub bitter. Lots of bready malt, caramel, fruity esters, grassy and floral hops. Medium mouthfeel. Drinkable and flavorful.

From Voldby, DK. Bottled, 070112. Brown with off-white head. Aroma of malt and spices. Flavor with caramel, fruit esters and roasted notes not in balance

Bottle. Copper with a steady white head, Nose is bread, light herbal hops, light tartness and vinegar. Flavor is mildly sweet, mildly bitter. Some fruitiness from the hops and a toasty, bready malt presence that claims the palate. Finishes a little dirty as if it’s an imperialized version of what it should be.

Rosy coppery amber colour with a fulsome white head that sits in a lovely white collar on top of the beer. Toffee and caramel predominate the aroma. It almost smells of copper and rosehip... in fact it does. Smells like everything good that is autumnal. Pottering down to the pub in the fog with the labrador for a pint and a stab at the crossword. Romantic, what? The flavour is full bodied and leans toward that toffeeness. Not terribly bitter at all but charming (and as a diabetic, probably awfully bad for me, but I’ll die happy having tasted this). Enduring finish and a winner in my book.

Bottle. Frothy white good mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. light bitter flavor. Average light bitter finish. Oily palate. Boring beer.

The aroma is like a loaf of bread out of the oven, still warm and toasty. The flavor is malty sweet with a nice balance. The finish is dry with a nice after taste.
