COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Regular;
This is our premium strength bitter, ruby coloured with a rich flavour and full body. The balance between bitterness and fruitiness from the Bramling Cross and Fuggle hops used give XB the distinctively complex aroma, making it the beer to savour.

Cask. Pours a clear amber with a small and creamy off-white head. Caramel and nuts in the nose. Medium body with a low carbonation, caramel, nuts and a slightly tart edge - plenty of fruit. Very subtle bitterness. 161111

Had this in the Navigation Tavern in Mirfield which served only Theakstons. This was quite a tasty pint, minimal head but good on the palate. I liked this beer.

Cask. The Black Bull Inn, Reeth. Medium white head. Amber to brown body. Banana, peppery, caramel, a hint of something citrusy... tangerine. Bitter with a dry finish. Some wateriness.

Cask (gravity dispense) at GBBF, day 4 on 4 August 2006. Extremely surprised to find I hadn’t rated this before. Amber / copper colour. Lasting white head. Butterscotch in the aroma. Aniseedy, herbal bitterness on the palate. A bit pukey. Drinkable but not great.

Cask@GBBF2010. Copper colour, small head. Aroma is fruits, wood, caramel malts, nuts and some mild earthyness as well. Flavour is wooden, a bit nutty, also some slight sappy and syrupy notes along with mild earthyness. Mild toffeeish notes lurking in the background as well.
