JorisPPattyn (4262), Antwerpen, Belgium Dec 21, 2005 Yes, I have indeed drank this "Bière de Luxe", as mentioned on the Artisanpress.com site, but is conspiciously absent on the yves.bou site. But my label is pretty different from the one on Woods&Rigley - which is probably to be explained by the fact that my bottle was purchased on 27/09/1979... So the description has to be taken with some distance - then again, an entered beer with no ratings is even sillier.
Straw-coloured, clear beer with a typical small transparant head, characteristic for aged beer. Aromatic, portlike nose, spicey, rosewater and old oaken vats. Great, aromatic taste that has real (old) lambic-like nottions. Here more (dry) sherry than portwine. This is a simple ale with a great extra something. Hay-like flavours, dried spices. Flat as a pancake, but somehow, not tired - but of course, it’s not strong or refreshing. I cannot help but like this. Anyhow, Theillier is an old family brewery with a fine tradition.
