Appearance: Clear nutty brown color, with a finger thick tan head that soon vanish into a small layer. Light lacing.
Aroma: Slightly sweet, fruity and malty.
Palate: Medium plus body. Slightly sweet, and a moderate bitterness. Average carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Fruity (raisin style) on a sweet malty background. Not very well hidden alcohol.
Overall impression: Nahh, they have to work some more on this style!

Pours copper color with a small head. Aroma of ripe fruits, toffee, nuts and caramel malts. Flavor is the same. Alcohol comes through a bit too much.

Kaatuu lasiin samean kuparinruskeana keskikokoisella ja isokuplaisella vaahdolla. Haju on karamellinen, maltainen, yrttinen, hieman rusinainen ja pihkainen. Maku on makean rusinainen, havuinen, ruohoinen ja hieman alkoholinen. Suutuntuma on kevyen ja keskitäyteläisen väliltä. Kokonaisuutena positiivinen yllätys vaikka päiväys oli mennyt. Ehkä kuitenkin hieman liian makea omaan makuun.

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff mai-11: Dette var en skuffelse. Strong ale?? Jeg kommer ikke til å prøve den på nytt Retrospektivt har jeg erfart at der finnes langt mer interessante italienske bryggerier enn dette (f.eks. Baladine).

Aroma is stale with some alcohol and ripe fruits. Flavour is stale and syrupy with alcohol, ripe fruits and hints of grassy hops. Too stale, sweet and too much alcohol here. Not your typical English Strong.

33cl bottle from Toscanaccio, Winchester. Reddish amber in colour and absolutely flat with no trace of head; fruity, vinous aroma, with eye-watering alcohol; somewhat better in the mouth, but rather thin, with a predominantly malty taste with a touch of fruit and soft caramel; and some strong alcohol to finish. Almost medicinal.

Bottle. Deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is alcohol, malt, apple, fruit. Flavour is alcohol, malt, hop, apple, fruit. Ordinary beer.

Bottle. Reddish amber with a coat of beige head that soon vanishes. Aroma of toffee raisins, spices, alcohol. Slightly syrupy and quite bubbly. Bittersweet with dried fruits and sherry, enough bitterness to just about choke off the sweetness. Quite noticeable alcohol. At least as much dopplebock as ESA. A little after its bb date, so maybe the emphasis on the oxidised notes is due to it being old.
