Aug 30, 2009 On draught during the Great Taste of Midwest 2009. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick tan head that has nice retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of light coffee/mocha, milk chocolate, vanilla, and molasses. Taste is medium to full bodied, flavors of toasted dark malt, chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon. Finish is quite smooth, more chocolate than coffee with a decent bourbon profile.

Aug 13, 2009 Tried at the 4th Annual Festival of Iowa Beers. Creamy & sweet with touches of vanilla (oak) and a dash of bourbon. Lingering coffee, but not much... lacking complexity.

Sep 1, 2008 Draft at 4th Annual Festival of Iowa Beers and at GTMW ’08. Black with ruby highlights and a brown head. Smelled of bourbon, molasses, vanilla, and toffee. There was also a whiff of cola. Medium bodied and semi-sweet with bourbon, vanilla, and milk chocolate flavors. A bit too much bourbon for me that mixed strangely with the lactose stout flavors.
