drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 18, 2009 Had on tap at the brewpub with my fiancee but unfortunately was eating dinner and didn’t take good notes. Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 15, 2009 Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a clear dark amber color with a thin beige head that recedes steadily. Swiss cheese lacing on the glass. Equal parts hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with moderately bitter piney hops and malt flavors. The finish is hoppy at first and leaves an earthy malt aftertaste. Solidly average Amber all around. pepsican (884), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA Jan 6, 2008 pours a reddish amber with a thin white head. Pine hops and molasses in the nose. Similar flavor, honey and bread also. Smooth, little carbonation. My session beer from them. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA May 15, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. This is not retired. Simply the brewpub changed its name. Same brewer, same beer, same recipe. Pours a semi-reddish amber in color with a non-descript white head that thins quick. Very subtle aroma of toasted grains. Watery and boring, but not offensive as some of the beers here. eve (240), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Sep 5, 2006 Tried this at the Festival of Iowa Beers, reddish bronze color, light sweet aroma, flavor is sweetish, no discernible hops, a little citrus. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Aug 19, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Clear red-orange color with off white head that laced the glass. Earthy aroma with a touch of pine needles and brown sugar. Nutty and roasty flavor with some molasses and brown sugar. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA May 31, 2005 On tap at the brewpub: Yep, it’s red alright. Sweet caramel with an almost honey twinge. Malty, sugary, no bitterness. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 20, 2005 Fairly dark amber color with just the faintest traces of head. The aroma is bread and some tangerines. There is also a little caramel. The taste is toffee with some taost and even a little orange peel. Pretty good.
