Pours a dark amber color with a slight frothy head. Has a mild caramel smell. A bit smokey with hints of caramel very different for a barley wine. I will age this one and I can’t wait to re rate.

Dark brown in color. Almost no head. Aroma of malt and yeast. Flavors of malt, hops, toffee and raisins. A smooth taste, warming and tingling. For being 10.5% this beer is real easy to drink.

Aroma is strong but soft, malty and yeasty with an earthy undertone. It pours a dark clear amber brown with not much of a head. Flavor is malty, earthy, slightly hoppy, with smoky undertones and just a hint of cloves. Texture is fairly tingly and edgy, but also smooth and soft as a kitten.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts old-malty, firy, a bit earthy, modest alcoholic. Finish a bit moldy. Well balanced finish, really good beer!

Tasting at Bell’s Fest in OH. Poured a very interesting cloudy plum color with no head, reminded me of a bloody mary actually. Sweetness in the aroma and same in the flavor with a great hoppy bitterness to play off the sweet sappy/woody characteristics.

Murky amber-brown, medium beige head, only temporary lace. Aroma of caramel, with a bit of smoke and toffee. Flavor of caramel, powerfully resinous, woody, pine resin, tea, a bit of orange juice. Nothing is off here, and it’s certainly not bland, but it comes together as far less than the sum of its parts, and I don’t like it. Full bodied, drinks smoothly.

Moderately strong aroma of caramel, figs, walnuts, blackberries, with a buttery edge. Cloudy brown, full of floaties. Medium yellow head. Resinously bitter and syrupy sweet. Tastes of pine sap and cherry cough medicne. Intensely rich. Smoky dried leaves afterwards. Alcohol is there but sidelined by the richnessn of flavor. I found it overbearing, but enjoyable when sipping. Not for chugging!
