Deep, murky, rich auburn pour. A sliver of white head. Laced. Aroma of red fruit, caramel, sugar, and faint timber. Taste is doughy. Sweet. Caramel and stone fruit notes on a rich malt backbone. Boozy, but not obtrusive. Long dry finish. Lively carbonation. Proper.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours reddish-brown with a tan head. Taste sweet, boozy, dark fruit. I thought this was so so. I would skip this down the road.

Dark like rosewood. Feels like syrup in the mouth. What a great malt character this one has. Not very hoppy compared to some of the other barleywines Iíve had that go that route. Caramel, licorice, and molasses on the nose. Sweet caramel maltiness from the very beginning. The abv on this beer is not hidden, but isnít completely in your face. The hops that are present lend a very minor bitterness and a VERY small amount of dank taste, but I suspect the rest of the moldiness (in a good way) comes from the other parts.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark amber-red color with a two-finger, long retaining, tan head. Competing sweetness and tartness on the nose. Caramel aromas. A somewhat oily mouthfeel, with mild carbonation and slight astringency at the finish. A little palate confusing with the flavor. Definitely some thick sweetness, but thereís an overarching tartness that doesnít quite blend for balance. Thereís some alcohol bitterness at the finish that further complicates the profile. Definitely dominated by caramel with some ripe apple.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle purchased online awhile ago. Batch 9970.
A: Dark mahogany with a creme colored head. Nice lacing.
N: Huge toffee and caramel in the nose. Bread and salted caramel. Oxidation.
T: Huge bitterness with only a touch of malt. Some of the oxidation shows through. Astringent.
M: Medium body. Sticky.
O: Bleh. This is harsh and not wonderful. Too much bitterness, not enough balance.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours with a slightly cloudy deep amber/brown body topped by a thin off white head with a good amount of lacing. Slightly sweet malty aroma with good fruity hop notes and a touch of caramel. Slightly sweet caramel malt flavor to start, turning piney from hops with a touch of alcohol. The finish is slightly sweet yet bitter and hoppy. Full bodied and smooth yet slightly tingly and warming
