3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle (again, didnít write down the batch number, damn it but itís from early í07)....appearance: muddled caramel brown. not as opaque as the Doggie Claw i had beforehand. minimal head....aroma: sense a lot of dark fruit with a nice malt profile....taste: much of the same. starts of pretty sweet and remains that way for quite some time. overall not as gratifying as the Doggie Claw and def less complex. that being said, i would never turn one of these down....one of the better barleywines that i have had.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a deep ambery-brown with fluffy off white head, mad crazy lacing. Nose is heavy on the dates, figs, brown sugar, caramel, malty goodness. Mouth is full bodied and slightly creamy, heavy caramel up front, some candied orangey notes, vanilla, maple syrup, malty, malty, malty, with some bitterness towards the middle and long into the afterglow I like this a lot, so itís going to be hard to sit on the rest of this six pack and let it cellar at least until the leaves fall and itís time for a new hockey season to begin.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours very hazy and dark with almost no head. Had strong aromas of plumb, raisins, cherry, alcohol, and bubblegum. Very malty and yeasty on the tongue, with a noticeable alcohol burn and had a decent bitterness to it. Pretty big bodied beer. While it could have benefited from more age, it was great at 6 months anyways.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
I found this guy at some random liquor store an hour away from my house when i was bored one day looking to buy some beer. It was aged 6 months in the bottle. It pours a very dark amber color. It looks completely black and opaque at some angles, but at others you can see it is SLIGHTLY translucent and amber. There is very little head that completely went away quickly. This beer has my absolute favor aroma Iíve smelled in any beer. Its smell is evenly split up between caramel, chocolate, fruityness, and brown sugar. The taste is also phenomenal and extremely complex. Itís very similar to the aroma but it has a nice alcoholic warmth to it. It also has a little dark chocolate and burnt caramelly which makes for one of my favorite beers. Iíve always been a fan of barely wines since Iíve first had one and this one tops the cake. At almost $4 for a 12oz bottle its a little expensive, but still definitely affordable. If Iím ever in the area where I found this at, or see it anywhere else, Iíll most likely be getting it.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Drank this bottle just after its 6 month birthday. Poured a deep dark brown amber with a foamy white beige head and a little lacing. This beer has THE BEST aroma I have ever encountered. Fruity molasses and brown sugar, a hint of chocolate and some hops. Flavor is marvelous, sweet fruity flavor, subtle hints of dark chocolate, a lot of molasses here and brown sugar with a mostly dark chocolate and brown sugar aftertaste that lingers for a while after you drink it. It has just enough hop presence to make it refreshing. This beers mouthfeel is the only place I could ever complain about this spectacular brew. With a body this molassassy youíd think it would be a tad bit thicker but itís not. Itís a fair bit thin. Bells has done it again and brewed up another phenomenal beer. This is one of my favorite barley wines and is definitely worth a try if you get a chance.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Light amber color, cloudy, unfiltered with some slight sediment. Long lasting head. Flavor hops but also fruity, manot toffee, not a lot of bitterness. Mouthfeel is pleasant, complex with a touch of alcohol warmth. This is excellent. Great beer to cellar.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Bellís Brewery. POUR: Barely any head. APPEARANCE: A beautifulggolden amber color with mild carbonation. SCENT: A faint warm smell that is not too bousy as some barley wines contain. TASTE: Smooth and robust in flavor. The initial taste is pleasing; however, an alcoholic taste lingers in the aftertaste which definitely affects the palate-not very pleasing. Overall its a pretty good beer and it tastes better in warmer temperatures (45 F-50F). I would recommend buying this brew again-especially for one of those horrible mid-week days when the stress begins piling on and you need a break.
