I GOT DUPED! I forgot the phone with the RB app on it and I couldnít get the rating. Man did I make a mistake. I like Yuengling as my everyday lawn mower beer but this is magnitudes lower. I even got the 12-pack based on a recommendation. Eeeeeesh. Had it known it was millercoors, I would never have bought it. They ought to call it "7urd $h1t" beer. Run, donít walk away.

Bottle from Ty's. Nose is typical with some mild hop bite. Body is medium with some light carbonation. A typical lager that isn't too strong or wimpy although it's a bit on the feminine side. ---Rated via my mouth

Can from the grocery store. Pours a transparent amber with a layer of cream colored head. Aroma of cheap malts. Taste is pretty awful, just subdued malts.

This beer is a step up from the macro brewersí products, with a more distinct hop taste and a more substantial malt flavor. But it is a couple of steps down from the excellent brews available from the micro brewers.

Good tasting, lager with soft hops. Great pick, good mix with meat/chicken. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I poured a 16oz can into a lager glass. It had an expiration date of 10/6/14 and cost $1.00 ($0.06 per ounce).

Appearance: Clear amber/golden hue with plenty of effervescence visible. Pours to an average sized, off-white, foamy head which laces and retains fairly well.

Smell: Pretty generic macro lager aroma, though a little sweeter than most. Nothing appealing, though.

Taste: The big macro brewers have been putting out a lot of quasi-craft and faux high-end lagers in the last few years. Third Shift Amber Lager appears to be Coorsí attempt at a Yeungling-like brew, though it doesnít taste nearly as good. In fact, this seems reminiscent of so many economy or ďpremiumĒ lagers because itís so simple, boring and has an awful finish.

Iím not sure what the point of this beer is. The palate is familiar to say the least: a generic combination of pale malt, standard macro lager taste and a touch of added sweetness at the beginning. Itís the finish that kills it as a sour, vegetal-like astringent taste emerges out of nowhere and completely ruins everything that had come before. Had the taste been consistent this would be a decent amber lager, but what Iím left with just seems overtly flawed and cheap. Perhaps thereís a hint of caramel to be found in here, but the off-flavor of what is probably DMS just ruins it. No hop presence to speak of, though thatís fine. I think this has the potential to be a good amber lager, but the adjuncts need to be removed and stricter quality control needs to be initiated at the brewery.

Drinkability: For what should categorically be a fizzy yellow lager, Third Shift Amber Lager is not all that fizzy. Plenty carbonated to be sure, though the mouthfeel is thicker and calmer than most brews of the general style. It has a slightly oily texture and leaves an aftertaste of astringency and starch. It seems to be right on the nose with its 5.3% ABV, though itís not an especially drinkable beer. Trying to finish one can is rather annoying.

Not to much aroma, a bit caramel. Taste a bit of a roast caramel malt. Not the worst thing from Coors

Bottle from Kroger. Pours a clear amber color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have light caramel malts, pale bready malts, light herbal and spicy hops, with light bitterness. Just not much going on here.

Overall just an average beer for itís style, which is what I expect from a miller/coors product. The pour is nice in itís color and the head is thin. Aroma was lacking for a typical Amber. First sip could taste the caramel and chocolate in the malt. The mouthful is light, and is smooth to drink. A sweet after taste with the roast and your yeast flavors kicking in.
