Had this ruby-hearted black draft on nitrogen at the pub. Yes, well-done to Dublin tastes, as it boasts a chocolate and coffee aroma, medium-lean smooth body with tangy acidity mid-palate, and a long roast note in the finish. This was my second place choice (of four) in blind tasting for best stout in Sonoma County...at the time. Would be happy to say it tied for first, if ties had been allowed. (Would like to taste this side-by-side with OVL, but for now I’ll say this one is best.)

"an ok offering, subpar for the Bear though. balanced sweet and bicuity malts and light citrus hopping make for a quaffable but ultimately uninteresting brew."

On tap at SF Beer Week Opening Gala. Pour is dark brown with a small foamy head. Aroma and flavor are both mild with notes of coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, and light sweetness.

This is as advertised. A classic dry stout. Loads of roast character but very nimble and light. A touch of sweetness rounds it out. Enjoyable.

On tap @ Third St Aleworks. Black pour with a dense khaki head. Lots of roast, some cocoa powder, and coffee. A bit of earth, char, and plastic. Minimal sweetness to the flavor. Bitter roasted malt and coffee. A touch of cocoa powder and earthy hops. Typical brewpub Irish Stout.
