India pale Ale, or IPA, was developed to quench the thirsts of British settlers in the East and West Indies. The Bodega Head IPA recreates the stylistic ideas of the 1800’s. High alcohol and aggressive hop charecteristics are matched with a dry malt background and finish.

This was a shared tasting with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. The pour of this 22 oz bottle was orange Big creamy white head with yellow tinges. Nose of floral hops, some pine and a touch of fruit. Medium in body and smooth lightly carbonated mouth feel. The flavor is dominated by the floral hops, but the light fruit, pine, and the finish is bitter orange zest .While a bit mild it very easy drinking. I am used to those big NW IPAs with a ton of flavor so this seems milts, but again is it very easy going down.

Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A little haze in this generally golden beer. A big beige foam leaves just a little lace. I smell as much malts as I do hops. The flavor, however, brings out plenty of bittering hops. Late some fruit is tasted and there are floral notes. As the temperature of the beer climbs more fruit is tasted and it is citrus. But this is not really a flavorful hop profile. Crackery malts. This is kind of an old style IPA. More alpha that flavor. This is definitely a throwback IPA from before big flavorful hops like Citra, etc. This might have been a lot like the best IPA circa 1980.

On tap at Aleworks. Pours clear orange, no head. Flavor has caramel notes with hints of pine and floral. Quite sweet for an ipa and unfortunately not enough bitterness to balance it out. It's easy to drink, but doesn't live up to IPA standard. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

"got to try this both regular and cask versions. not quite big enough to stand up to the cask, but decent either way. pine and floral hops, ample bitterness and sweet malt. well balanced with a bitter aftertaste. not a standout, but not bad either."

Keg at Third Street Aleworks, Santa Rosa, 28/04/14. Clear golden with moderate off white spotting and edgework. Nose is citric peel, orange pith, hops, toasted malt, light pine. Taste comprises light grapefruit, citric hops, lemon peel, bitter orange, toasted malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light hop bitterness in the close. Ok IPA - one of the better beers I had here!

Draft - Floral hops with a caramel sweetness. Clear gold with a nice rich head. Perfumy, grapefruit and a nice quick hit of bitterness. A very nice refreshing IPA.

On tap @ Third St Aleworks. Clear golden-orange pour with a white head. Orange peel hop notes, some grass, and a bit of pine. Sweet caramel and bread, too. Flavor is fairly sweet, but does have a decent amount of bitterness to balance it out. Lots of orange peel, grass, and caramel. Light piney hops on the back end.
