Sometimes called a “Red IPA”, Bombay Rouge combines the deep red color of a substantially malty ale with an IPA hopping profile. The combination creates a unique West Coast drinking experience.

Pours copper with a white head and a piney and malt aroma. Good flavor; nice amount of hops along with some caramel/honey notes. Overall, a solid brew.

Bottle from trade. Copper colored. Nose is citrus (orange) hops, caramel malts. Malty, but strong hop finish. Well balanced, nice red IPA.

Bottle. Pour is deep copper red. Aroma is caramel malt and some citrus. Head is white and dissipating. Taste is not too sweet for the abundance of caramel malt, but really subdues the hop flavor. Somewhat cloying. Meh.

Flaske: Ravfarvet klar øl med et flot skumhoved. God duft af citrus humle og lidt malt. Fin maltsmag der bliver fint bakket op af en lækker citrushumling. Dejlig øl.

Draft at brewery. Nose is caramel with a touch of hops. Taste is malt dominating. Lots if carbonation. Some alcohol boost. Overall ok but like an imperial red ale.

This was a goos beer, loads of malts up front with not an overwhelming amount of hops, but enough to get a great variety in flavor from start to end, which makes for a great experience.

Keg at Third Street Aleworks, Santa Rosa, 28/04/14. Amber with a moderate light beige swirl and edgework. Nose is caramel malt, hops, light pine, grapefruit, bitter orange, citric peel. Taste comprises caramel malt, bitter orange, candied sugars, a little overly sweet and 1D. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light hop bitterness in the close. Ok but to sweet to take toomuch of this onboard!

On tap at the brewery. Pours a reddy brown without much head. Strong hop flavors and good amount of maltiness.

First this beer is mis-classified. This is an IPA not an American Strong Ale. ABV is 7.6%. I purchased this in October of 2013 from Third Street Aleworks. Aroma is hops. Appearance is a clear red amber in color with a 2 finger light tan pillow head that lasts forever. A mustache creating type of head. Taste is a semi sweet hoppy grassy goodness. Palate is smooth and carbonated well. Overall this beer 6 months old is far better than when I had this on tap at the brewery. It aged very well though not sure I’d let it age much further. I definitely recommend this beer. The brewery is located a block or so over from Russian River.

Poured from a bottle purchased at the brewery into a pint glass a caramel reddish orange with a thick pillow top head that stuck around for the entire consumption of the full pour. Truly love this when it happens with hoppier sweeter brews. Aroma is hops & a touch of sweetness. Flavor is west coast hops up the ying yang with caramel toffee. Bitter finish is subdued with some nice sweetness. Definitely the hoppiest of red ales I have consumed. First had on draft a few months ago in the brewery and this bottle doesn’t seem to fade the image I have a way better than better most reds. Carbonated beautifully & quite balanced. If you are a Red Ale fan & love west coast style hops (me more the later) this brew is well worth the purchase or trip to the brewery.
