An emerging style coming out of the Pacific Northwest, this beer is dark (but not roasted) and hoppy. Our Cascadian Dark Ale combines the pine and citrus hop profile of an IPA with lighter notes of dark chocolate and malt.

Tap at the brewpub. Very dark cola pour with a grayish head. Citrus hop on top of roasted malt - pretty good, but something is keeping it from popping.

Sampled at GABF. Pours a watery, translucent brown with some creamy head. Earthy nose, dirt, pine, wet soil, dried leaves. Flavor is sweet, chocolate, brown sugar, pine, wet soil. Medium bodied, chalky finish. Brewer said that he wanted it to taste like Portland. It does.

Draught @ the brewpub, Santa Rosa. Rated on 20.10.2012.
Pours a dark brown, almost black colour with a white head. Aroma of roasted malts, raisins and perfume. Flavour of roasted malts, grapefruity hops, grass, butter and raisins. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a bitter finish with rather disturbing off-flavours, which are hard to describe. Nice bitterness but something is definitely a bit off here. Without the off-flavours this would’ve been good.
