Draft - Roast notes and coffee. Jet black with a rich persistent brown head. Espresso, bittersweet chocolate, some dark fruit and an odd sourness. Something wrong with this recipe.

On tap @ Third St Aleworks. Black pour with a khaki head. Aroma is pretty roasty and smokey. Some plastic, dirt, and cheese. Light ash. Meh. Flavor is bitter smoke and plastic. Lots of roast, coffee, and ash. Minimal, if any, sweetness. Not very pleasant.

Tap at the brewpub. Rich dark pour with a sticky off white head. Bitter chocolate and oat smoothness, nice palate, and a bit of bitter roast late.

On tap at brewpub on 062013. Black with a tan head. Smooth roasted aroma of coffee, chocolate and oat. Taste follows aroma with a smooth texture (oat) and a light bitter chocolte finish.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2013 On tap at the brewpub in Santa Rosa. Pour is pitch black with a frothy brown head and great lacing. Roasty, chocolatey, vanilla, light oak, maple, and earthy hops in the aroma. Taste is chocolatey, earthy, espresso, slightly grassy, light vanilla, and oak with a slightly roasty finish. Medium body with soft carbonation. Not bad.

A good stout enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Dark bodied with a light head. Decent drinkability with a long finish.

I had this beer on tap at Third Street Aleworks. This black pour had nice coffee and chocolate notes with a a full mouthfeel.

Sample at brewpub. Black with brown head. Raisin, plum, malt, alcohol, oats. Highly carbonated, medium bodied, sweet all the way through, huge malt finish but not really my thing.

On draft at pub, chocolate aroma with American citrus/pine note. Chocolate and touch of dark fruit with piney (Columbus?) hop flavor, but very low, to no roast in flavor. Oatmeal duly noted in mouthfeel, what kmweaver dubs ’nougat’.
This was my third place choice (of four) in blind tasting for best stout in Sonoma County.
