COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The rich darkness is not excessive as is sometimes seen in other craft iterations. A medium high hop flavor and aroma befits this style. The caramel and roasted malt flavors and aromas are enhanced with a well-controlled fruitiness.

Tap - good size foamy head, almost black color with a slight red hue, roasted malt aroma and flavor, fair hope - would have liked more hops and less roastiness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, light beige head, with some lacing, over a clear brown (SRM 30) body.....nose is heavy chocolate, cocoa, lighter coffee, hints of pine, citrus.....taste is chocolate, light toffee/caramel, pine, light citrus, finishing with moderate, lingering bitterness......mouth feel medium, slightly astringent, carbonation makes a medium tingle. This is a nicely balanced, clean finishing Black IPA. It does not have the depth of complexity nor the powerful aromas and flavors often found in the style, but it is a nice representative. Solid roasted malt nose. Taste is nice malt and hop balance. Seems to be alot lower on the hops scale then the other black ipa beers that I like. Drinkable

Dark red brown color with light tan head. Strong caramel and malty aromas for an ipa, but definite earthy hop presence. Taste is sweet as expected with a moderately bitter finish. Body is medium heavy with a slight oily feel. I really enjoyed this beer.

Pours a dark brown with mid-sized head. Aroma of burnt grain and some hops. Flavor is a very smooth combination of malt and coffee with some hop accents. Pretty good, actually.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy caramel, chocolate, lighter roast, and a touch of coffee...no hops in the aroma. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights. It has a one finger beige head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There is some spotty webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate caramel and dark chocolate. The finish has light-moderate pine, burnt notes, light roast, and coffee. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, there’s simply not enough hops here to be anywhere close to a Black IPA.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle thanks to khoffman. Pours a darker brown, nearing black, with a greyish head of foam. Good lacing. Aroma is chocolate, cinnamon, and roasty malt. Taste is a little burnt and gravely with a bitter finish.

Bottle from khoffman43 pours deep amber capped by a cream colored head with great staying power, leaves a thick coating of lacing. Nose of roast and chocolate. Taste begins with a sweet twing, chocolate and roast. Midway the bitterness comes with some citrus. Bitterness is a tad subdued and makes for an easy drinker.
