COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The rich darkness is not excessive as is sometimes seen in other craft iterations. A medium high hop flavor and aroma befits this style. The caramel and roasted malt flavors and aromas are enhanced with a well-controlled fruitiness.

Pitch black pour with a tan head faintly reminicient of a Guiness, but lighter, crisper. Drinkable enough, tho the finish is off.

12 oz bottle from khoffman43. It pours dark brown with a khaki head. The aroma is pleasant enough with toast, cocoa powder, and some earthy, piney hops. Hop character is a bit subdued for a black ipa. The flavor has more with a good balance of piney hops and chocolate and roasted maltiness. Pretty dry finish. Nice beer. More like a hopped up porter, which isnít a bad thing.

Dark brown pour with thin light tan head. Aroma is dominated by roast malt and some sweet caramel. Taste is also quite malt heavy, more sweet than roasty. Not enough IPA characteristics in this brew for me.

Pours a burnt umber black color with a finger of micha foam. Aromas are chocolate, burnt wheat, lil citrus and roasted dirt. Taste is overly carbonated with roasted malts driving the muddled chocolate and burnt caramel flavors. Hops are subtle with a touch of bitter tange peaking out in the finish.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2013 Pours a dark brown with lasting thin head and good lacing. Aroma is sweet lactose and lightly roasted malts. Taste is a deeper roast with an adequate amount of hops in the middle. They arenít the best, and they are brief, giving way to a medium roasted malt aftertaste. A small lingering hop bitterness to counter, but mainly roast. Palate is a bit thin. Not bad, not outstanding.

Pours dark brown with a big tan head and decent lacing, with some sediment suspended in the darkness. Aroma is not too strong, sweeter caramel aroma. Taste is roasted malts with porter qualities, but I was missing the IPA side of it. Felt a little thin, with not enough hops to bring substance to this style of beer. 7+4+7+3+10 = 3.1

Serving: 12 oz. bottle. It pours pitch black with a huge tan head. The nose is powerful! Lots of roasty fruitiness with a bit of citrus and earth. The flavor has a bit of flint, burnt malt, dark chocolate, slight citrus and herbal hop notes. Medium to full body with a good dose of carbonation. It leans more towards the earth stout side than the black IPA side, but itís still a solid brew.

Supplied by Tom. A beer style I like. A good grain backbone, kind of dusky, good citrus and deep forest herbs, nice finish. Interesting enough to get again.

Bottle @ Bradís house. Pours a bit hazy, dark reddish brown appearance with a light tan head. Very rich chocolate, raisin, somewhat fruity, kind of creamy, herbal hoppy nose. Slightly burnt, roasty chocolate malty, a bit piney, slightly bitter, anise flavor. Not too shabby.

pours a medium brown black .. medium head .. . lacing is alright .. . light roast and burnt toast with light resin topping .. . a very light black ipa but a good one, nothing overdone .. . . wait? does this bottle say something about a bitter black neighbor??

Chocolate and coffee in the aroma mixed in with some citrus hops. They have the right idea but canít execute. Its decent bu feels like a watered down version of a better Black IPA. Too much coffee to be a black ipa also. If you call your beer an IPA it better shine in the hops category.
