COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a true brown, not only because if its color but because of its stringent adherence to the style guidelines; a real beer connoisseurs dream. The hop flavor and aroma is adequately full and assists the roasted malt flavors that are perceived on the palate. There is limited fruitiness and the body is appropriate.

Supplied by Tom. For whatever reason, I don’t generally enjoy brown ales. But this one had just enough maltiness, just enough of that good nostalgic barnyard for my farming roots, and with a nice hint of bitter/citrus character at the end that the complexity intrigued me. Not sure I’d pick up on my own, but sure would gladly accept if offered,

Bottle @ Brad’s house. Pours a touch hazy, reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Mild coffee, cocoa, vanilla, a touch nutty aroma. Chewy, nutty, Baby Ruth bar, chocolate, a bit earthy flavor. Not bad.

Pours deep dark brown with a short-lived head that reduces to a small ring and minimal lacing. Aroma is a sweet cola mix with flowers. Roasted, nutty flavor and aroma become more apparent as the drink warms up. Taste up front is sweet, with some hop bite going down. Taste overall is nice and has some dimension. The roasted flavors come through afterwards, with some coffee and nuts.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered deep cherry brown. Thin, oily head. Sweet fruity brown malt aroma. This is a really solid brown ale. Sessionable, medium bodied, but still with lots of big malt tones and flavor. A mild touch of bitter hops up front fades into a delicious malty mouthfeel. Has some malty depth. Creamy and fresh, well done.

Pours a medium-brown. Rather plain, some malts and a slight hint of hops. Another drinkable beer from Third Street but not as good as Bitter Neighbor.

Appearance: dark brown color, red around the sides, small, dark head. Aroma: very cola-ish, up here in the nose, bits of nuts, and cocoa, but so high in carbonation that it’s spoiled a bit. Mouthfeel, again, too carbonated, some bitterness, medium-bodied, with a middle arrival of fruit (cherries, grapes). Not much to my taste. Better than weaker-bodied brown

Deep red brown with a thick foamy, khaki colored head. Caramel, roasted malts and cream aromas. Flavor is well balamced with a light sweetness. Medium to heavy body with a thin syrupy mouthfeel. Nice brown ale.

Sample at Ale Jail. Fairly light brown ale. Drinkable but not super interesting. Malt bill is light, hops border on non existent but nothing bad going on here.

I don’t know why they trumpet that they brew this completely to the style/by the book. Try a little something more interesting. Because I was most disappointed in this of the three signature beers that I tried. Most importantly, there was so little substance here--no flavor came through, and it was even more a shrinking violet up against some food. It needs to be given some backbone, or just drop it and head to a porter/stout recipe. Bottle.
