Bottle: Brown pour with a thin tan head.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours black, with a tan head. Smells of roasted coffee and chocolate grass. First taste is light sweet and light bitter, this evolves into a steady sweet finish. Has a frothy mouth feel, mild carbonation. Always worth checking out the seasonals!

Tap at new bohemia. Black with tan head. Good lacing. Roasted aroma but with hops. Soft and slightly oily. Roasted malt and heavy sugar sweetness. Not a great stout, but more my style.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Poured from a bottle. Black with airy khaki head that doesn’t last. Aroma has a nice roasty character, but it’s very weak. The taste is also weak, most notably the maple. If it wasn’t on the bottle, I wouldn’t have guessed it had maple syrup at all. There was also a hint of an off flavor. Not so bad that it ruined the beer, but enough to be unpleasant. The bitter roasted notes were okay, though. the palate was my least favorite part of the beer: thin and heavily carbonated, which isn’t what I want from this style.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown / black, with a 3/4 inch tan head that dissipates quickly, leaving a sticky lacing. Roasted malts with a hint of pine in aroma. Roasted malt initial taste, a bit sweet. This transitions maple bitterness in the finish. Light carbonation. A nice creamy and thick mouth feel. Pretty good overall. Third House brews this with a deft touch. The complex flavors of the malt and maple are in a nice balance. In other words, the maple does not dominate. The sweetness is there, but also controlled to not be overbearing. The finish is just a little bitter and dry.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Basically black beer with a khaki head. Aroma of roast and maple. Taste is roast and molasses, really weak maple. Beer isn’t thin, but its not what I was expecting. Very sweet, Sugar Shack indeed.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle pours a dark reddish brown with an off-white head and little lacing. Aromas of maple, roasty, caramel, and dough. Flavor is a bit watered down considering the color and aroma. No aftertaste though for those that matters to. Ok beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with a beige head. You can smell the maple, pleasant. Smooth mouthfeel with a little zip as you go to swallow. Slight bitterness to the finish which offsets the sweetness in a balanced way. OK for the style. Would drink again.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the March 2014 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large fluffy dark tan head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet maple, brown sugar, chocolate and had a malty undertone. The flavor was malty chocolate, brown sugar, maple, faint fruity hops and a touch of wood. Long malty chocolate and maple finish. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Interesting.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thin dark brown pour with not too much head. Really nice malty pancake nose. Taste is a bit muddled - not bad, but dry, lots of roasted malt and a decent amount of hops serve to hide the maple syrup.
