3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 czar (2221) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 23, 2013
pours hazy golden with a very nice white head, good retention and lacing. fresh toasted bread and cereals, lightly piney, citrusy, toasted malts, candi, dry caramel, yeasty. average to soft carbonation, medium body - oily, nice citrusy-grassy finish. interesting and nice interpretion of a belgian american ipa from a french brewery!
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 JoeMcPhee (7618) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 25, 2012
Deep amber pour. The aroma is quite earthy and hoppy with a sort of peppery flavour as well. A little bit of toasted/plummy maltiness with a little bit of spice and some nice bright herbal character. There is an aggressive bitterness but it kind of works. It comes across more like a young barleywine than it does an IIPA. A strong spicy yeast contribution that works nicely in here. It’s very atypical, but it’s still quite enjoyable.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 erickok (2280) - Tours, FRANCE - DEC 15, 2012
Misty copper body and big white head. Looking good. Mild forest hops, cookie dough and hay. Sweet malts, dough, medium bitter and quite fruity. Sharper ending. Decent IPA, but not very fresh or double. (33cl bottle from De Bierwinkel Leiden)
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 goozen (2311) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - NOV 17, 2012

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kiwianer (2309) - Mönchengladbach, GERMANY - NOV 7, 2012
The head is intensive, creamy and robust, the body brown and cloudy. It smells intensive hoppy creamy, hoppy-fruity, a bit bitter-fruity. The taste is hoppy intensive, creamy, a bit hoppy-creamy-alcoholic, maltaromatic, hoppy-aromatic-fruity and hoppy-bitter. In the aftertaste same but the bitterness is a bit more intensive. Nice beer!

On tap @Fine mouse. Nose is horrible with an over heated yeast note. Aroma is on lemon, pine, very yeasty, no real malt aroma, less drinkable, terrific.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Benzai (4331) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - OCT 30, 2012
33cl bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear dark golden color like apple juice, huge white, good lacing, long lasting head. Very weak aroma. Taste is very disappointing as well when you expect a hoppy beer. Malts, lightly some bitterness, a touch of herbs and spices, a hint of sweetness. But hops?? Nowhere to be found. Could it be that this is a bad bottle? Maybe, but I’m not convinced. [Dutch: voldoende als bier, dikke onvoldoende als DIPA of IPA] Very disappointing.

Bottle @ Benzai. Golden colour with a big white head. Little to no smell.. Some malts, some hops and some wet grass. Doesn?t taste like a double IPA. Slightly bitter, some malts, some pine. Next time they should add some hops in there. Thin to medium body, low carbo.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Borresteijn (3644) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 27, 2012
33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Hazy orange colour, thick off-white head. Aroma of fruity hops, loads of sweet ripe (tropical) fruits, Belgian yeast, syrup. Flavour is sweet, malty, very fruity, white sugar, good firm bitterness that is almost blown away by the fruity sweetness, but not quite. Thick, medium to full-bodied. Good beer, but far from a DIPA.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Fin (6175) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 19, 2012
Bottle from De Bierkonning, Amsterdam, Netherlands 19 October 2012 Hazy gold with white head. Impressively hoppy but with quite a floral element, thick in the mouth, reminds me a little of Brewdog Hardcore Double IPA. Bitter and with a great warmth from the alcohol, impressed with this French DIPA. Good beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5
