American-inspired Double IPA with three American hops (Nugget, Simcoe and Citra), and an Alsatian hop (Aramis).

A-typical double ipa, more like a double spicy saison. Very herbal and malty body, with some american sharp fruity hops, but also a french herbal hop. Enjoyable.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, amber colour with small, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Hoppy aroma splits in a fruity side, delivering notes of gooseberry and other berries, and an herbal, earthy moiety, malty basis has a toffee touch. Taste is moderately sweet malty with hints of honey, inhibited, clotted hoppiness, floral notes, a supposed hoppy biting in rudimentary condition turns instantaneously in actual alcoholic burning. A rather asthmatic inspiration.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is yeasty earthy swampy, some hops and fruity esters. Flavour is spicy yeasty, vegetable, more yeast. Sorry, but this is quite bad.

Dobre tresciwe i o pelnym slodowym smaku z wyraznym wytrawnym zakonczeniem. Chmiele tu goruja i poteguja. Troche takze wyczuwa sie alkochol i przede wszystkim mocna slodowosc. Ale po przelknieciu naprawde przemila goryczkowa uczta i pozostawiony ten posmak na dlugo. Spora piana nawet trwala kolor ciemnej przybrudzonej pomaranczy. Bardzo metne

Bottle (330 ml). Clear bright golden/copper with a medium fully lasting beige head and good lacing. Aroma is of caramel, spices, breadied malt, light piney notes and fruity notes. Aroma is slightly sweet, moderately malty and bitter with caramel/molasses, fruits, piney notes and spices. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Chewy/sirupy mouthfeel. Moderately dry finish. Interesting take on a Double IPA. The mouthfeel is very similar to the Thiriez L’Ambrée d’Escquelbecq that I had yesterday. Good balance. Nice warming. Different than your usual DIPA.

Vond de Dalva niet echt een IPA. Daarvoor is ie wat te bitter. Maar verder is deze introductie van mij aan Frans speciaalbier meer dan prima bevallen. Iets bitter dus, maar met voldoende hoppig tegengas.

Bottle at home. Clear orange gold, lively almost white head. Aroma is fruit, yeast, bread, fudge. Flavour is malts, some fruit. Quite enjoyed it, decent effort.

Tap at Les Trois 8. Pours a hazy amber with voluminous white head. Aroma is estery farmhouse yeast, banana, malt, citrusy and earthy hops. Taste is a mixture of malty, citrusy, and bitter, with some alcohol apparent. Definitely not an American-style IPA, more like an imperial farmhouse ale taken in a hoppier direction. Pretty good.
