3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle at hf’s saison festival 2012. pours bright golden with a nice white head, some retention. breadied malts, cereals, warming alcohol, more of like a ’’bière de garde’’ to me. medium hopping - nice grassy notes, medium long finish. lively, light body.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750ml bottle pours a hazy, deep gold with some clumpy, white head. Nose is honey, grass, brie cheese, lemon, some malt, a little cardboard. Flavor is similar, sweet, pilsner malt, grass, noble hops, light cheese, honey, floral, orange peel. Fairly high carbonation and a silky finish. I would love to try this uber fresh as I think the hop profile has faded quite a bit. Overall, not bad.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy and honey colored with a thick, lacy off-white head. Smells of honey, flowers, hay, and grain. Agressive sweetness melds with the dry hopping, though I would say the sweetness wins the battle. A bit too sweet in my opinion, but a good sipper nonetheless. Not as light as I had imagined for the ABV.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Shared a 750 ml bottle with my wife at the Bayou. The aroma has signs of oxidization, hints of cardboard, floral hops, earthy, and slight malt. The flavor is better with less oxidization, fruity, earthy, and sweet pilsner malts. Not terrible, I would like to try this again.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle; clear vibrant gold win eggy white head lingering; fizzy dry honey, wildflowers, grassy malt and lemon peels; the earthy honey notes are just about perfect; has a sharp, dry bitterness from the dry hopping that doesn’t quite fit with the flavors; sharp, lemony and bitter; finishes with a grassy sweetness; high and dry and digging the house honey flavor, but just a tad sharp for me; the Amber was a homerun, but this is just so-so

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From 750mL bottle. Light carbonic gaseousness and some stale hop floral notes. Mild sweetness, bitter orange peel, and a bit of BandAid. Funky but not in an off-putting way. Medium golden clear with huge foamy-frothy white lacing head that lasts and lasts. Medium watery body with medium-high carbonation. Starts fairly dry with some grainy sweetness and orange peel. Nice hoppy bitterness throughout, floral with some grain astringency. There is an off flavor here, sort of like BandAid. Otherwise, a nicely hopped and well-balanced saison with good bitterness, a good level of sweetness, and some mild funky notes in the after. A little bit of oxidation.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled sample shared with oakbluff. Gold in colour with a fair bit of haze and strong carbonation. Strong and grassy noble hops on the nose, with a bit of pilsner malt on the back end. The hop profile reminds me of Victory Prima Pils or Sam Adams Noble Pils. Slightly more balanced in the mouth with the malts coming through a bit stronger. Some rustic spiciness from the yeast in there too, but in a far more restrained way than I had expected. Light bodied and bone dry, with a solid satisfying bitterness. Nothing crazy or over-the-top here, but the execution is virtually flawless. A great beer.
