2 year old bottle. Pours a muddy golden color with a nice creamy white head of foam that leaves sheets of lacing. Aroma of honey, light fruit, cantaloupe and some sweeter spice smell that I can’t put a finger on. The honeyed malt taste comes through in the taste also, along with some biscuit, light fruit, a very mild spiciness and some minerality. Finishes dry with a bit of lingering bitterness and minerality. Light/medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Easy drinking and good but I would have preferred less of the honey character and more of the earthy and hop flavors.

Bottle from French e-shop Dark golden to dark orange color, quite clear for unfiltered with medium white head, medium open, lasting and lacing very well. Sweet aroma, pale bread crust, fruity and sugary, spicy(coriander, ginger), herbal hoppy notes, some light esters and phenols and some alcohol warmth. Taste is sweet, sugary and light ripe fruity, flower and honey notes, light tart, some spice(orange peel?). Hoppy(spicy, peppery, light citrus) finish that balances the sweetness and finally overpowers it in the long bitter-hoppy and dry finish. Medium body, soft carbonation Amazing brew.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2015 Older bottle at 6.5% ABV. Thick, sticky, moussy, very stable, lightly yellowish white head over a cloudy, brownish peach blonde robe, turning more ochre as the deposit is added gradually. Sweet, estery aroma of stewed pears, canned peach, honey, candi syrup, apple sauce, thyme, gingerbread, phenolic spiciness and band aid, cheap wodka, apple cake, straw, lightly cooked Brussels sprouts, cinnamon, hint of fried chicken, minerals. Taste begins with sweet, stewed fruit, honeyish and a bit sugary in a candi sugar kind of way, overripe pear, medlar and stone fruit, honey, rounded and quite crisp with minerally carbonation, weak sourish accent, leading to a malty, bready, honeyish, sweet middle phase and eventually into a spicy, lightly peppery and grassy hop bitterness trying to balance the initial sweetness and almost managing to do so; a slightly astringent but primarily warming ’jenever’-like alcohol presence is there too but subtly so. In all, a typical ’Belgian blonde’ from France, quite well-balanced and with a somewhat artisanal feel to it. I’d have this way over Leffe Blonde or Tongerlo Blond any day.
