75cl bottle, gusher.

bottle from Calais Vins. Deep brown, amost black colour, large beige head. Aroma of wild yeast, slightly sour, fruit. Full-bodied, the wild character is in the far background. Caramel, dark chocolate, espresso coffee plus some shy sour fruitiness. Good.

Bottle BBE 02/11. The beer tries to get out as soon as you crack it open. Pours an auburn-tinged, very dark brown, almost black with a large and thick, latteish head. Aroma begins sour with berries, red currant, rowan berries, slight vinegar, some tones of sweet maltiness. Later evens out into sweet maltiness with some roastedness and herbal hops in there. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, notes of sour berries. Aftertaste is malty, slighty herbal and woody, some cardboard can be detected at times. Palate is somewhat carbonated, medium and a little thin.

Bottle. Big light brown head on black liquid. Dark aroma like someone is burning cocoa under my window. Thin, bitter, sour, weird for any style. Starts out ok with dark plumb and roast malt but then big sour fruit, cigars and sour mash.

Draught at Bruxelensis Festival 2006. Ok, a long backlog. Dark brown with red and a low head. A fantastic, spicy, stout-like drink. Very tasty, not too bitter, not too sweet, one of the top two today.

Big bottle bought @Kihoskh, København. A gusher. Big airy everlasting beige head. Body is near black with a reddish edge. Light chocolatey malt aroma. Faint belgo-yeast and whiff of sour milk. Body is less than medium full and lively carbonated. Yeasty and light biscuit malty with a sour tone. Brief bitterness. Lively finish. Strange brew.

An interesting beer this. Certainly in the flanders brown style but without a really obvious lactic character. There is some light roasty notes and fuity esters there making this a moderately complex beer.
