3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 downender (5191) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - APR 6, 2008
Bottle from Utobeer. Opaque dark brown with hints of red, the head was tight and tan coloured. Aromas of licorice, prunes, sweet malts and spice. The flavour had plenty of caramel, dark fruit and chocolate, with a smoky tobacco kick in the finish. Excellent.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 KnutAlbert (5186) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 13, 2009
Very dark, a bit of a gusher. Liquorice, rye bread and spices in the nose.
Dry, almost oaky, playing with a malty base. Complex as well, there is sourness, sweetness and dryness here. A little warming. Prunes, mint, a little soot. Hard to classify, and that’s a compliment. Could ahve had a bit more body, perhaps, but its a very fine brew.

Draught at Bruxelensis Festival 2006. Ok, a long backlog. Dark brown with red and a low head. A fantastic, spicy, stout-like drink. Very tasty, not too bitter, not too sweet, one of the top two today.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sayravai (4655) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 2, 2006
(Bottled) Hazy dark brown color with huge yeast particles flowing, but almost no head. Very roasty, smoky, licoricey-rhummy aroma. Very roasty, extremely ashy flavor. The finish is like you’ve just finished licking a large ashtray clean. Light to medium-bodied, quite carbonated palate. Gets more balanced when it warms up, but still not that great. I wonder why the French have to filter and dilute their beers like this - and why they’ve never heard of balanced beers.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 rosenbergh (4653) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 1, 2010
330 ml bottle. Finland.
Dark reddish brown almost black colour with small frothy light tan head.
Strange aroma has some malt but also soy and fish furnet in it.
Lots of spices, mild malt, mild bitter hops and salt in flavour. Quite interesting character but not necessarily that good.
