Bottle from Tanakaya. Spicy caramel and chocolate aroma, toast, cinammon,  nutmeg, earthy and a bit grassy. Dark brown with red and a thick, fine, solid head. Earthy amber malts with chocolate and dry caramel, spicy, rather dry, with nice bitterness. Subtle, earthy, some grass and a bit of minerals, some orange and ginger. Interesting. Definitely festive spicing and malt flavors, but dry and quite bitter with a bit of barnyard hay. Like it.

As ’Biere De Noel’. Cloudy dark amber beer. Semi dry palate. Is this a sour beer? Certainly tastes sour but not overdone, plenty of sweetish balancing malt. Just a hint of smokiness. A little orangey ginger near the finish. The good French beers keep on coming!

Beautiful amber-brown body and a decent inch and a half of head. Soft aroma of wood, nuts, malt, coriander. Taste is mostly coriander, simple nut hints. Incredibly light, I’d prefer a bigger oomph per se. Nice beer, could be better.

Sampled at Winter Warming Tasting. Pours a hazy light brown. Very sparkly and spicy. Then the malts and alcohol kick in at the tail end.

750, capped. Big burly geyser. Three paper towels worth. Pours a dark ambe, very hazy, with a dense tan sheet of bubbles even after the geyser settles. Big toasty caramel nose with nuts and shortbread showing. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toast, caramel, nuts, and breakfast pastry on the mid palate. Almondy finish. Delicious.

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Amber colour, mediumsized beige head that leaves nice head. Aroma is nuts, caramel malts, some slight wooden notes as well as mild spicing. Flavour is sour wood, fruits, nuts and some sweeet malts.

Bottled 0,75l (BB 10/2009, vintage 2006 or 2007?)
Dark amber, muddy color, small beige head. Toffee, light hops, tartness and yeast in the nose. Flavor is a bit tart and has toffee, yeast and hints of chocolate. Medium-bodied with low carbonation. Probably a bit overaged.

Quite a bit of head built up in the bottle while it was waiting to be poured. Then once it was poured it only managed about a 1/2 high head of fine off-white bubbles. Light fruit and spices in the aroma with a bit of roasted grains. Color is a hazy copper. Dry and roasty flavor. Pretty smooth and easy drinking with a bit of cinnamon and orange peel. Slightly chalky mouthfeel. Finishes dry and roasty with some lingering spices. A decent brew.
