Collaboration with Jester King, it’s the "sister" of Le Petit Prince; brewed at Thiriez, same recipe, different malt and hop suppliers, and different yeast.

Lot 335 12/2013. pale color with white head, hoppy aroma, quite a full taste for such a light beer. dry and hoppy finish. You can still taste the hops in your mouth after you swallow. Good beer !

Pale straw-yellow pour. The aroma is soft and herbal. Minerally Brett aroma with a spicy/noble hoppiness. The flavour is actually ptetty watery. Lightly hopped and a little bit perfumey but quite a let down.

Had to double check the ABV. Didn’t notice in the first couple sips. Cloudy dark yellow. Thin soft foam. Saison scent. Spicy strong flavour. Good malt. Only knock might be that more malt sweetness would better balance the herbal bitterness but that would also raise the ABV.

PotjeBier (1747) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 23, 2014
33 cl bottle bought in Lille (covered markets). Pale blonde color, hazy. White head with good retention. Aroma’s: first impression is of a French lager (which is not a compliment), then there’s grain/malt, some fruit & vegetables, light spices. Retronasal there’s more of a hop character, herbal, light bitter and still fruity. Flavor is slightly bitter, herbal. Light bodied, rather thin. Finish is somewhat dry and rather (earthy) bitter. Not great.

Bottles from Brasserie Thiriez and Racine’s in Cassel. Hazy straw, effervescent with a short white head.
One bottle was in decent shape, the other was downright foul. From the brewery it was floral, citric, lightly phenolic but overall quiet in the nose. Off-dry, light-bodied, effervescent and quenching, has good roundness at low strength. (3.4/5). The bottle from Racine’s was heavily oxidized, showed strong DMS cooked corn signature, and it smelled and tasted of autolyzed yeast, the holy trinity. No surprise it does not hold up well in warm storage continuous fermentation. (2/5)

33cl bottle from saveur-biere.com A hazy mild amber body with a frothy white head. On the nose, intense aromas of fresh grass & mild herbs. The smell really makes you feel like you are in a country side farm. On the mouth, it begins with a citrus note, pines, mild herbs..then comes the hops(French & Belgian) providing peaches and hints of black pepper leading to a dry bitter finish. An excellent example of an old school French table beer. Also its highly refreshing.

Bottle. Hazy murky yellow, a thin dissipating white head. The aroma is mild fresh peppery, citrus. The flavour is acid fruity, tart grassy. Yeast. Solid bitterness. Weak fruits, like a green peach.

Bottle at the De Molen second Tuesday tasting August 2014. Poured a hazy light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, veggie. Not much of note in the smell. The flavour light acid citrus with an earthy mineral light barnyard bitter palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. Considering the ABV it was a decent beer, but a Saison is hardly a style that’s calling out for more alcohol.
