reakt (938), Greater London, England Apr 21, 2007 Updated: Sep 1, 200775cl from uto. Brown-amber with white head. Aroma of butter toffee, cherries and oddly, glazed ham. Taste of yeast, caramel and brown sugar. Some spice and oranges in the finish. It has progressed from awful to ok. I think this has a lot to do with the temperature. The flavour has filled out as it has gotten warmer, but it’s still not great. Thin bodied and boring. Yawn. skortila (2875), Bunnik, Netherlands Apr 18, 2007 Aroma of caramel and toffee malts, citrus and some yeast. Hazy, brown coloured with a lasting, initially huge, off-white head. Taste is sweet, a bit bitter, slightly dry. Caramel malts, citrus, yeast, some sugar. Combined with a good body makes this a very nice, enjoyable brew. Above expectations. duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Mar 2, 2007 Draught@Bruxellensis. Some plastic/rubber in the aroma and on first sip, which i noticed in the "La Maline" of the same brewer. . Some notes of caramel and toffee, some brown sugar notes, but finishes fairly dry. Bart (1625), Vosselaar, Belgium Jan 6, 2007 Bottle, b.b. 11/06, Hazy orange amber coloured with a huge off-white head and a lot of carbonation. Sweet malty aroma, little roasted. Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland Dec 13, 2006 Dark orange colored, cloudy appearance, little yellow head. Metallic and sour, even slightly vinous aroma, mild caramel also there. Medium bodied. Amber color, mostly vanishing head. Crisp, lemony hoppy nose, hints of fruits and metal. Crisp, malty, candy sugar sweetness. Kind of gross-over of sweet Dutch ale and a bière de Garde. oh6gdx (8801), Vasa, Finland Dec 10, 2006 Bottled. Reddish amber colour, no head to speak about. Aroma is sour and metallic with hops and yeast. Flavour is sour fruit along with caramellly sweetness. Yeasty aftertaste. Quite similar to L’ ambree d’ esquelbecq in many ways. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands Nov 11, 2006 Thick bubbly head over a hazy amber/brown beer. Smells yeasty, buttery and caramelish. Tatses fruity a bit caramel some diacetyl and finishes of with a bitter/sourrish note. Bit weak impression but certainly not bad.
