Aroma of butter toffee, cherries and oddly, glazed ham. Taste of yeast, caramel and brown sugar. Some spice and oranges in the finish. It has progressed from awful to ok. I think this has a lot to do with the temperature. The flavour has filled out as it has gotten warmer, but it’s still not great. Thin bodied and boring. Yawn. Jerre (1768), Waregem, Belgium

Hazy, redish brown color, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, spices, clove, bitter, light grainy, prune, medium body. Pretty standard Belgian ale. Feb 2002, bottled, 3.5: I was really excited when I found this bottle. I love most of the beers from du Nord in France. And it had the looks as well - red, creamy foam and fair lacing. But the aroma ... grain and plastic doesn’t do it for me. I was not so eager to taste it but luckily the flavors where ok. Soft, light sweet, light bitter, hoppy and good balanced. Nice hoppy finish as well. lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium

The smell is soft and has aroma’s of bisquits, malts, soft spices and tropical wood. The taste is smooth, dryish slight sweet, has hints of céreal cookies, malts, pepper, nutmeg, cigare case and some hops. This beer has good drinkabelity and the afthertaste is elegant. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA

Sweet millky caramel aroma with minerals and hops. Thin in body with some astringency. Earthy, borderline dirty flavor, a bit peppery. Has some distinct elements but overall doesn’t come together. Amber color, mostly vanishing head. Crisp, lemony hoppy nose, hints of fruits and metal. Crisp, malty, candy sugar sweetness. Kind of gross-over of sweet Dutch ale and a bière de Garde.
