The first Christmas beer produced by Thiriez since 1997. Fewer hops than the Blonde; lightly toasted malts for color, and a hint of spice.

750ml: Hazy light to dark orange with huge puffy rocky head that grows in the glass and leaves a light lacing. Grassy peppery aroma with a hint of lemon and a bit of mustiness. Rich taste that ends a bit bitter at the end with a bready ending. A perfect Thanksgiving beer.

(750ml bottle) Pours lightly cloudy amber body with a huge rocky off-white head that lasts. Aroma of musty leaves, light florals, and notes of citrus. Flavor of spicy yeast with a hint of fruit in the finish.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread/grain), lightly hoppy (flowers, orange), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, mold), with notes of peach, straw. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Could use a more richness and aromatic allure, but for what it offers, it’s very pleasant and very drinkable. Like the Xxtra saison, it’s only fault is in what it lacks.

Not a Biere de Garde. Great character of munich malts. Bitter. Less well balanced than the blond

This bottled brew poured a very large sized head of foamy finely sized mostly lasting off-white colored bubbles that left behind a carbonated hazy amber brown colored body with yeast floaties and a good lacing. The aroma was mildly doughy with a malty base. The mouth feel was tingly from start to finish with a mild malty doughy vinous aftertaste. The flavor was malty doughy smooth and tingly on the tongue.

Bottle. Poured a huge off-white frothy head that was mostly lasting, contained fine, small & medium sized bubbles, poor lacing, minimal carbonation, and an orange brown almost copper hue. Malty, caramel, fruity, and hoppy aroma. Flavor was sweet, fruity, malty, some caramel, and light citrus taste. Mouthfeel was tingly. Medium body. Definitely worthy of a try.

Lustrous copper. White foam settles to clumpy islands of silky consistency. Earthy, fennel hop scents with hints of spiced apples and caramelized malt hulls. Mistily dry on the palate. Fluffy carbonation, but dense. Hint of fruity acidity and juicy hops initially fuse with spicy hops as a chewy nutty-malt bedding becomes established. Softening dab of banana nut bread echoes the hard mineral foundation. Near-perfect attenuation, here. Tight, deeply caramelized malt notes. Fruity esters contribute trace levels of slickness, but otherwise remain in the background. Finishes with a suggestive nutty malt spine along with a countering edge of musty yeast, minerals and dryness which spawn a flurry of pleasantly raspy earthy hops. An extremely well-rounded example. If only the aroma was more refined and the flavor contained more malt to withstand to the fruitiness.

Clear, amber body with a fluffy, white head that quickly collapses into a thin, white line. Interesting aroma of spicy hop oil, tobacco, caramel, whole grains, earthy terroir, light wood and fresh flora. The body is silky smooth with low carbonation and plenty of malty backbone. Tasty and well balanced. Excellent, complex malt layers and elements of fruit, grains and toffee while remaining well attenuated. A crisp hop bitterness comes in near the finish to enliven the tongue and warm the soul. A nice, balanced Biere de Garde with some spiciness and crisp hop bitterness. I wish this was fresh, because the green bottle oxidized the hops some. If this were fresh, I bet this would have reached another level of tastiness.

Light amber in colour with a beige huge head. Lovely fruity caramel aroma with some musty notes. Toasted caramel, subdued fruits with a nice nutty finish. Medium bodied, tasty.

big 750 mL bottle, pouring a carbonated amber color. nice and mild, fresh farm scents not of pigs or cattle but corn and hay. a very enjoyable brew, definitely hiding all 5.8% alcohol.
