COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Unfiltered.
The first Christmas beer produced by Thiriez since 1997. Fewer hops than the Blonde; lightly toasted malts for color, and a hint of spice.

Bottled.
Amber red, floating fine yeast. Steady cloudy head. Grassy and fruity lemony nose. Crisp, grassy, a bit alcoholic flavor. Some caramel and sugars also can be tracked. Quite "Belgium" ale, not French or a bière de Garde at all.

The color was beautiful and classic. The aromas were funky and amazing, like sundried tomatos with malt. This beer showed true finesse, and was extremely freindly on the palate.

Bottle from brewery, good amber, but I just don’t like ambers. Caramel amber pour, caramel Martinez and fruity yeast in aroma. All that and raisiny sweetness in flavor, medium mouthfeel. Ok

Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. Dark reddish brown hazy lasting beige head. Malty aroma. Malty in mouth. Some carbonation. Not much hop. Very malty. It’s fine. Simple but fine. Brown dry malty flavour.

Bottled. Reddish orange colour with yeast floating around, mediumsized beigeish head. Aroma is hops, yeast and barnyard. Flavour is sour fruits along with some caramellish notes. Gets quite nutty in the aftertaste.

Bottle - Brown sugar, malt and some yeasty sourness. Cloudy amber with particles, foamy dissipating head. Very dry and dusty, an lack of body makes this just ok for me. Mild spices and a vanilla note does peek its head out.

Yeah. Well. Nothing like the other Biere de garde I had. Classifications are often a nonsense. I think. Definitely not a good name for my member. Though it may provide confusion and disorientation which may be fairly well representative of how well it performs. Enough. Malty, sweet, some dark fruit but not much. Reminds me of the Old Thumper I had recently. Now that’s a much better member name.

330ml bottle. Pours dark orange brown with no head. Aroma is caramel, apple and burnt toast. Taste is quite grainy, bready, grainy, yeasty finish with some apple on the aftertaste.
