The first Christmas beer produced by Thiriez since 1997. Fewer hops than the Blonde; lightly toasted malts for color, and a hint of spice.

This is a difficult pour, a fizzy yellow/beige head erupting from the light amber body and over the sides of the glass regardles of the care being used. Small particles swim through the glasseven when undisturbed for some time. The aroma is interesting, caramel coated peanuts, yeast, pear, and light spicing. The mouthfeel is fluffy, near unsubstantial. The flavor is a light, sweet malt - caramel and toffee - with pale brown sugar, light pome tastes, bread dough, and a soft nutty bitterness. It finishes sweet and sugary. It’s an interesting drink that makesme wish that i liked it more.

Bottle. Pours an orange body with an off white head. Light straw and hay almost grain character. Spices with a grass tone and some sweeter esters. Bread y with a light bitterness to boot. Decent enough.

Poured a hazy amber color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of spices, citrus fruits, lemongrass, and tangerine. Taste of caramel malts, light spices, a dry earthiness, some citrus fruits, and light alcohol in the finish.

Bottled, BB 10/2013, large sample. Hazy amber color with floating stuff, big off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, toffee, soft spicy notes, hint of raisin, slight grassy hop. Medium bitter in taste, some burned caramel. Slight metallic finish. Past its peak I guess.

July, 2006 Bottle from Kent Beer Festival. Unfiltered. Fresh tasting. Hints of chocolate and fruit. Perfumey hops. Very refreshing, softly carbonated, easy drinking, nicely balanced beer. Nothing too sweet, too dry, too bitter or too aggressive. An assortment of flavours that work together in harmony. Slightly different so catches the interest without being heavy or oppressive. There’s possibly some wheat in here. And some chocolate malt. It’s an interesting mix. Quite serious without being clever or stunning. Very enjoyable. Nice one. [4.0]
Jan, 2014 330ml dark glass bottle. Unfiltered. Gift from Piers - bought from BeerHawk. Slight gush. Muddy appearance, though had been stored for over a week. Candy sugar sweetness. Some fruit. Some musty notes. Pleasant drinking, though flavours are vague and muddled. A fruity little thing - few hops. A tad too much sweetness for my taste, and perhaps lacking interest and direction and focus. [3.1]

4oz pour at Max’s Rare and Obscure Beer Week Part 4. Pours a hazy, burnt orange with a thin, creamy white head. Nose is orangey, light candy, malty, a little perfume. Flavor is grassy, a little medicinal, malty, yeasty. Obviously a Euro IPA. Medium bodied with a sweet finish.

Light amber color that is almost golden. Light aroma of apple and some oak. There is also a little bit of flowers and pears. The taste has some nice caramel and peanuts. The mouthfeel is nice with some light flower notes in the background. There is also a little bit of hay in here. Nicely done.

For some reason I thought I liked this one a lot when I had it at a brewfest (bctc?), but when I had this last week, I wasnt nearly as impressed as I was with the blonde or the XXX. Still decent though. Very high carbonation- watch for exploding bottles! Even when taking the wrapper off, this one started hissing (I didnt even touch the cap!!!0 Very tempermental beer. Pours out with a nice amber body- actually lighter than expected- more of a light amber- deep orange. Nice fluffy sticky head though and great lace. Aroma is earthy spicy and floral hops. Herbal dry and spicy flavor with some caramelized malts and a moderately bitter finish. Smooth and dry finish. Pretty good I guess, even though most of these beers remind me more of saisons than biere de gardes.
