COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brown and caramel malts give this classic British style brown ale a lovely mouth feel and a fragrant, toasty malt aroma.

NOTE: They sometimes serve "Grizzly Red" in place of "Brown Bear" and use the same labeled spot on the sampler tray. Check if you are unsure.

Decent drinkable brown who’s not over the top.

Draft. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and fruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and nuts, leading to a nutty and lightly bitter finish.

Nice malt and hop balance. Surprisingly little nose for a brown beer. Some caramel and roasted hop aroma in the mouth. Generally just OK.

Light chocolate aroma with some light herbal character. A bit of light licorice. Softly fruity with a little bit of cocoaish roastiness. Not really roasty but it is quite nice and cocoaish.

Sampled at Thirsty Bear. Nutty grainy aroma, with light floral hops. Dusty grains and mild rye aroma - like I’m standing in the milling room. Medium sweet nutty nose. Medium brown-amber clear with creamy off-white lacing head. Medium bodied with medium-light carbonation. Starts with medium sweetness, grainy and malty with a bit o rye or similar grainy taste. Mild brown sugar and nice mute floral hop bitterness. Nutty and a little mealy, with a nutty salty-sweet finish and light nutty bitter after.
