Sampled at the brew house. Flavor was pretty good with some solid malts. Color was nice and mouthfeel was smooth. Definitely worth a try.

Pours a nice ruby color with white head. Malt flavor up front, but not much depth. Thin finish.

Deep amber, almost maroon color. Dry dusted malt aroma with some dusty malt flavor as well that is rounded well enough to render this a solid brown ale offering.

Pint at the Thirsty Bear in San Francisco, 19th Feb 2008. Ruby brown in colour with a simple aroma of caramel malt. Solid palate, tastes like a fruity, malty brown ale. OK I guess, but served too cold in my (British) opinion.

From June 2007 tasting notes, sampled at Thirsty Bear. Dark clear bronze with a quickly fading head. Pleasant sweet caramel toastiness and a hint of roast. Nice toffee, caramel, brown sugar and a hint of coffee. There’s a slight touch of maple syrup in there too. Thin and watery with soft carbonation. Needs a little tweaking.

Sampler at the brewpub, and am I glad it was only a sampler. Mahogany coloured with a wispy head. Grainy, nutty aroma. Flavour of bland brown toast. Not good.

Deep garnet. Generally wan aroma: rye bread, grape nuts and walnuts. Overall a distinctly unpleasant character of moldy sandwich bread. Dry blonde malt body somewhat clumsily overlaid with a rather brutish chocolatey roast aspect. Dry, fairly bitter finish.

Dark maroon, amber color.
Rich caramel coffee smell.
Heavily on the side of coffee flavored, with a touch of bitterness, but easy to drink and somewhat thin. This is a decent brown ale, but not my favorite. Worth a shot.
