2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 jgb9348 (4027) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAR 21, 2007
Brown coloured body - no way! Light tan head on the beer with a bunch of bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of vinegar (mostly) with malt and light nuts noticeable. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong taste of chocolate along with malt in the flavour. Aftertaste is quick, but consisted of malt even more so. Overall, a decent beer, but I’m not a huge fan of browns. I sampled this beer on draught at the brewpub on 28-February-2007.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 marcus (5104) - Sacramento, California, USA - APR 2, 2006
On tap at Thirsty Bear. This brown ale poured with a short off-white head that dissipated quickly. The flavor is a bit thin but tasty, with a malty finish. Like Newcastle with a bite.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - FEB 21, 2006
Dark amber colour. Light nutty aroma. Strange - some very sweet almondy, molassey character but some astringent roast in there as well. Neither element is all that appealing and together they don’t work at all.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20 omhper (17558) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 15, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Nut brown. Neutral aroma. Sweet and roasty with syrupy mouthfeel. There are some pleasant roasty malt and the finish holds light licorice-like hoppy bitterness, but it’s just not firm enough. The malt profile needs some work.
