jasonp (1446), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Jan 18, 2008 From June 2007 tasting notes, sampled at Thirsty Bear. Clear golden with a white head. Has a light, grassy, herbal noble hop aroma. Flavor has a malty base with a touch of light caramel, noble hops, clean lager yeast, moderately bitter, moderate residual sweetness. Has some alcohol kick too. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. lb4lb (1453), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 23, 2007 Reddish caramel with a white head and nice lacing. Sweet grainy nice maarzen like flavor to it and some bitterness in the finish. Decent, although not my favored style. bb (2168), Martinez, California, USA Jul 17, 2007 Draft. This and especially the Marzen were the highlights of the TB experience...this brew seemed like a slightly stronger version of the Marzen, in fact, and it’s mainly the extra alcohol that makes it a bit less enjoyable for me. luckygirl (1212), Longmont, Colorado, USA Jul 6, 2007 Draught at the brewery. Beer is clear, medium/dark brown. Head is small, white, frothy, quickly diminishes, but mostly lasts. The aroma is nice, but maybe a bit subdued. Moderately malty with a note of toasted grain, light notes of caramel and toasted bread crust; Hoppy with a light note of lemon zest; Light note of alcohol, trace of peach, tropical fruit and cherry. The flavor is moderately/heavily sweet, light/moderately bitter, lightly acidic with a long, warm, lightly acidic, light/moderately sweet, lightly bitter finish. The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
