Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Feb 21, 2006 Deep chestnut colour. Toffeeish malts with almost a toasty note. A bit chocolatey, toffeeish and with a deep whole grain bread character. Possibly a bit watery but the flip side of that is drinkability. Pretty good bock. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 15, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Clear very dark brown. Aroma of alcohol and roasty coffee. Sweet up front with some molasses and a mellow mouthfeel. Coffee dominates. Drier, tarry finish. There are undeniably some interesting flavours in here, but making calling a beer "bock" with this type of mellow malt profile is a bit of a blasphemy. bb (2168), Martinez, California, USA Dec 8, 2005 Draft. Blackish beer with a big beige head. Roasty aroma. Caramel malt flavor with a bit of roast and fruit (and seemingly a bit of oatmeal). Too much trying to compete (a lot of esters), Could be cleaner and more focused. beerguy101 (3488), Newark, California, USA Dec 17, 2004 Medium orange color. Small to no head. Aroma is sweet malts, toffee, caramel, sherry and vanilla. A medium to full bodied bock. Malts are fruity (orange and peaches) Lots of caramel, toffee and sherry flavors. Touch of vanilla. Very smooth. There is a slight alcohol bite at 7.2%. Nice winter beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet. MrDick (269), San Francisco, California, USA Sep 17, 2004 (strong beer month ’04 in san francisco) Aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee. A bit underwhelming though as the palate was too soft. Very watery for the amount of malt and high abv. Subdued flavors of roasted malt and coffee.
