4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: Lots of spices--ginger, cinnamon, etc.--with hints of honey and caramel.
Appearance: Clear dark amber with a thick, tan head.
Taste: Light sweetness with a light bitterness in the finish. Very well balanced.
Palate: Light-medium body, slick texture, average carbonation, sweet finish.
Overall: Iím not blown away, but Iím not disappointed. Itís not as heavy or overspiced as a lot of other holiday beers, so thatís good, but it also seems a little underdeveloped, flavorwise.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not a bad Christmas Ale. A little bit wanting in areas where Great Lakes really shines through. Could have used a bit more sweetness to balance out some of the more bitter notes.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
This one is a little too much holiday for me. The cinnamon and nutmeg really shine through.

Clear copper with medium off-white head. Aroma is cinnamon, medium body, low carbonation, and some small-bubble lacing. Taste is cinnamon and ginger. I prefer Great Lakes Christmas Ale.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Pours a clear brown/copper color. Thin beige head. Aroma is cinnamon, honey, and surprisingly the ginger actually comes through, and a little bit of nutmeg. Pretty much as advertised. Really nice. Flavor is cinnamon, little bit of ginger. Some honey sweetness. Pretty much no bitterness. Pretty awesome Christmas-y flavor.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter.
Feel: medium-full body with medium-light carbonation. A tiny bite on the tongue, presumably from the 8.3% alcohol. Pleasant, spicy aroma but it suggests that there may be too much spicing in the flavor. Tasting confirms this, with the blame largely on nutmeg. Some medium and dark malt with a hint of toffee does show behind the spicing.
O: a good winter seasonal, but a bit too much nutmeg for me.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Pours amber with an off white head. Moderate sweet malts, mild but noticeable spiciness, some bready notes, and low bitterness. A pretty straightforward "Christmas" ale.
