bottle @ Chief Market / Lima OH --- Clear dark runy amber color, thin head cover, strands of lace. Taste is malt with a little wet cardboard in the palate, turning very lightly bitter in a medium finish. It is drinkable, but nhor really a keeper.

Draft sample at Cincy Beerfest 2014 on Fountain Square. Pours a clear orange with a small off-white head. Notes of toasty and and sweet and crackery malts, straw, and leaves. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a malty mouthfeel. Simple, and one of the better Oktoberfests I sampled at the fest.

A decent octoberfect--a nice, rich maltiness that finishes crisp and dry. A bit watery/thin bodied, though, and a slight astringency in the finish.

12oz bottle. Cooper color with minimum head. Sweet malt aroma. Pretty standard malty taste for an American version, slightly sweet. Alright.

12oz bottle in improper glassware - nose is floral and caramel with toast. Easy to drink. A little too sweet. Go Big Blue!!!! Makes me think of a mild doppelbock.

Clear medium amber pour with a red hue. Very nice head and lacing that lingers. Very slight nose of sweet caramel malt. Light medium body and well carbonated. The flavor profile is laid back, as a marzen should be. It has a very nice balance of caramel malt sweetness and flavor with just a hint of hop bitterness. The carbonation yields a crisp finish identical to the flavor profile. Thirsty Dog is becoming one of my favorite breweries. Another outstanding offering that is true to style.

Light biscuity aroma. Clear, medium brown pour. Flavor is stale, malty, and earthy. Filling mouthfeel. The malt flavor is not pleasant.

Clear copper pour with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of bread and some caramel. Rather tasty with caramel, molasses, and grain balancing the sweetness. Creamy mouth feel. Very nice beer!

12 oz. bottle thanks to queenholly. Part of a side-by-side-by- side tasting. Clear copper pour without any lace in a lager glass. Roasted grains, fall leaves and German yeast in the aroma, nice. Flavor is toasted caramel malt, yeast, and light herbal hops. The caramel malt sweetness lingers a bit in the finish. A little thin in the body. Pretty ok and really is what the style should be.
