2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with very little head. Strong malty nose on this that is almost, but not quite, like caramel. Similar malty taste that is just a little overpowering for my taste. Not quite sweet; more of a malty bitterness.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap in Peninsula, OH. - light brown pour. Aroma of...nutmeg? Definite spice on the tongue. There has to be nutmeg in here. Maybe cinnamon, too. Surprising at first, but better as you go.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: OCT 2, 2012 Pours a clear amber with creamy head. Light malty aroma, not much else.
Very sweet and sticky, general malty caramel taste.
Overall: Not a big fan of the style, but this is a pretty good example.

Bottle. Lactic caramel malt aroma. Amber with moderate head. Sweet caramel malt and bitter/acidic flavor. Rough - not really a beer I’d want to session.

Originally reviewed: 1/13/10. This was a new offering at my local store recently. Wierd. I didn’t see this in the fall when all the other Fests were out. Wonder why this decided to pop up now. Huh. On to the beer...
Poured into my pint glass. Pours a very clear pale orange with a small white head on top. Retention is weak, but it left some nice sip rings anyways. Sort of a dirty scent eminates from this one. Dull earth, old veggies, and a light caramel scent on the back end. That’s different.
Nice creamy body. Easy to drink, and a pleasing feel. Flavors of mild toasted crackers at the onset, light toffee in the middle, and finishes mildly bitter, but with a touch of sweetness. Aftertaste is sort of fruity. Hop bitterness is low in this one.
I’m not sure what I think of this one. I’ve had better Fests, no doubt, but this was a decent beer for sure. Some characteristics I didn’t like, but others I did. Try it for yourself.
