COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We took our award winning Siberian Night Russian Imperial Stout and aged it for 11 months in fresh bourbon barrels. The result blew us away. The dark chocolate malt yields a milk chocolate flavor that blends perfectly with the vanilla flavor from the barrel. The bourbon aroma adds the finishing touch.

12oz bottle pours near black with a finger of tan head. Nose is big fruity bourbon, licorice, roasty bitter chocolate. Taste is strong bourbon, dark fruits, ashy, roasty, cream. Finish is boozy roast malt and creamy ash, fruity bourbon. Very nice.

12 oz bottle. Shared in line for the 4 Elf Party. The pour isn’t overly black like I’d expect. More of a dark dark brown. There is a thinner dark head that fades quickly, leaving no lace. The aroma is mostly roasted malt with some chocolate, dark fruit, licorice, and vanilla. There is a moderate bourbon presence, and it’s not overly bad. The flavor is just how the aroma smells. Light chocolate, good quantities of licorice and vanilla, and there is a hearty burn from the bourbon. Not overly great, and in fact, I prefer the regular one over the bourbon barrel aged one

Enjoyed at the Thirsty Dog tasting room on draft. Snifter. Big, black pour with a tan head that lasted for only 30 seconds. No lacing. Bold aroma with dark chocolate, mild coffee, cocoa nibs, bourbon barrel oak, vanilla, and roasted malts. The taste was heavy roasted malts, bourbon barrel (but not overly booze), charred oak, slight smoke, vanilla and a hint of spices. Full body, mild oily, Finish is bourbon and oak with vanilla. Very very good.

12 ounce bottle thanks big time to Dan. Pours a jet black color with a small brown head, it goes down quick. A sweet big bourbon nose, some vanilla, a bit of roasted malt, fruit. Big bourbon sweetness, vanilla, caramel, light heat, some dark fruit, oily very slick. Very good beer. Hot.

Bottle from Dennis, thanks! Black with a beige foam ring clinging to the glass. Aroma has mostly sweet bourbon and some chocolate. Onesided but nice. Taste is sweet with bourbon, roasted notes, dark chocolate, coconut and peppery notes. No alcohol. Medium body, medium carbonation. Aftertaste is dry with peppery bourbon.

2012 Vintage. 11/28/13. Pours opaque brown-black with a thin, bubbly brown head. Aroma is oak, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, booze. Taste is dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate milk, creamy; finish is bourbon and long n the dark chocolate. Mouth feel is full and oily. Medium-low carbonation is appropriate. Nice lacing. Overall, really nice, tasty.

12 oz bottle for 7 bucks. Pours black as night with a non-existent head. Aroma is very sweet, almost like wine, with a little roasted malt coming through too. Taste is wildly complex, sweet chocolate, roasty, vanilla and dark fruit turning into a very smooth bourbon alcohol heat at the end. Body is medium, slightly creamy texture. Not much carbonation to be heard of. This is a good imperial stout but not really worth the price. The regular Siberian Night is better than this.

Pour pitch black, with a small but somewhat creamy looking light tan head. Aroma is pretty roasty on the nose (and on the palate) but followed by a heavy load of coffee, slight bitter chocolate, slight vanilla, some toasted/chared oak, slight banana, bourbon and plenty of green notes as well. The taste is slightly sweet upfront, with a heavy dose of lingering bitterness from the middle and out. Medium bodied, with a rather fizzy carbonation. Slightly sticky... Thanks Scott, for sending me this.

Pours deep black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface. Vanilla, bourbon and oak aromas. Medium bodied with sweet chocolate and caramel upfront turning to vanilla in the lasting hot oak finish.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in Spring 2013. Pours dense pitch black color with a nice 2 finger dense and rocky dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, bourbon, oak, clove, vanilla, toast, toffee, roasted malt, light char, raisin, apple, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of roasted malt and barrel character; with solid strength. A bit too fruity. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, toast, toffee, oak, clove, bourbon, light char, and roasted earthiness. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, toast, vanilla, toffee, oak, bourbon, light char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and balance of roasted malt and barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and full bodied; with a very creamy, moderately slick, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent BA imperial stout. Great complexity and balance of roasted malt and barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.
