We took our award winning Siberian Night Russian Imperial Stout and aged it for 11 months in fresh bourbon barrels. The result blew us away. The dark chocolate malt yields a milk chocolate flavor that blends perfectly with the vanilla flavor from the barrel. The bourbon aroma adds the finishing touch.

The barrel aged version of this is very nice. The aging brings about some fantastic Vanilla qualities to the espresso chocolate qualities to this Imperial Stout. The barrel agin also in my opinion mellows this beer nicely. It adds just the right amount of Whiskey nuances without going overboard. Truly these qualities enhance an already fantastic beer adding complexity that is enjoyable and memorable.

This one poured a very dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma was big bourbon, fudge, light smoke, and vanilla. Flavor is similar, but not as big on the bourbon, very well rounded combo of a great impy and ba qualities . Not closing at all and even at 11% i could easily have a few of these.

12oz to wine glass. Super inky black pour with a dark brown head. Huge vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, brownie, smooth bourbon, and coffee. Insanely smooth and delicious! Almost like a liquid brownie sundae. Oak, chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, and more throughout. The alcohol is damn near hidden. Just A+ stuff here!

Pours and inky black with a khaki head. Strong barley noise with chocolate and coffee notes. Flavors of roasted barley, chocolate and espresso with the barrel adding coming in on the backside, not overwhelmingly strong bourbon flavor, just a hint. Very good beer, find it and try it!

(draft @ Melt Bar and Grilled - Cleveland Heights, OH) Dark black pour with a thick and creamy tan head. Big coffee and vanilla aroma with some nice chocolate underneath. Chocolate and slight bourbon flavors at the start with a coffee, chocolate and light smoke flavor near the middle. Finishes with a sweet and oaky coffee finish with a lightly sweet aftertaste. Very roasty and very tasty.

Dark beer with a foamy brown head that left an attractive lace. Rich sweet malty nose with lots of bourbon notes. This is a hot, boozy beer with lots of oak, bourbon, vanilla bean, chocolate milk and a rich cherry fruitiness. Smooth mouthfeel with a long barrel finish. This is a great use of a barrel in a beer.

Bottle back from Bestway in NC. Shared with EricTeusink. Pleasantly surprised at the complexity and texture here. Barrell adds to an already complex beer but in a complementary way. Aromas of vanilla and whiskey, a little bit of soy sauce. Flavor is more straight stout. Roasty malt and bittersweet with a little pepper spice on the back of the palate. Finish is chalky texture with milk chocolate flavors. A personal fave of mine when you can get that texture and rich chocolate in there. Lots going on and really complex but all working together well. A below the radar beer that needs to get some more love.

12 oz bottle purchased at Capone’s. Pours an opaque deep black. Head and lacing are minimal. Aroma is massive bourbon and chocolate malt. Flavor is milk chocolate, bourbon and Irish car bombs. Medium to full bodied, and delicious.

Bottle: Thanks Trevor: Served in a Chouffe glass: Brown head with black body. Nose of bourbon, dark chocolate, coffee, some sweet tar, herbal roast, earth, mocha, spice and roast. Very nice. Flavours of dark chocolate, mocha, spice, bitters, roast, sticky, cacoa, light wood tone, praline, some light whiskey/bourbon tints, some sweet roast (while not sweet) and a hint of hay roast. Aftertaste is malty, roast, dark chocate, mocha and praline. Low carbo, creamy oily foamy silky mouthfeel, full bodied and a creamy foamy ouly sticky texture. Delicious stuff.
