COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We took our award winning Siberian Night Russian Imperial Stout and aged it for 11 months in fresh bourbon barrels. The result blew us away. The dark chocolate malt yields a milk chocolate flavor that blends perfectly with the vanilla flavor from the barrel. The bourbon aroma adds the finishing touch.

Pours black like a proper RIS. Definitely bourbon in the aroma. Tastes has a little heat but there is still the sweetness of the bourbon exists. Very solid but missing some complexity. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Khyber Pass. Opaque pour with a slight brown head that mostly disappeared. Dark chocolate. Deep red fruit. Nice bit of ash and smoke. Big juicy Imperial. Vanilla bourbon. Sulfured figs and dates. Charcoal grill. Burnt marshmallow. Tootsie Rolls. Boozy. Bourbon barrel enriches the flavors. Like it quite a lot.

An old favorite hits the barrel, the first BB beer I’ve done in a while... time to see how this holds up. Black pour with the usual mocha head that dissipates to a film. Lovely aroma of dark chocolate, bready boozey cake, dark fruits, light burnt caramel and vanilla spice. Flavors of dark chocolate, light bourbon, a bit of wood, dates and spice. Boozey, bittersweet, light woodiness and a bit of licorice bite. Mouthfeel is lighter than what I would’ve imagined, not a light beer by any stretch but the barrel thinned some of the chewiness I expect from the regular offering. The finish is booze soaked fruit and a bit of roasted bitterness that lingers. Overall, not real heat that I would expect from some lesser BB offerings... up there with the more elegant BB beers and while it’s not a style I indulge in too often anymore this is certainly a fine example of the the style and BB practice. My only gripe being was the hope that the body was as big as the aroma led me to believe and that the booze becomes a bit more apparent upon warmth.

Thanks to errl for sharing this bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a brown head. The aroma has a ton of bourbon notes up front with some chocolate and oak also coming through. As the beer warms I get more notes in the aroma including some roasted malt, honey, cinnamon and graham cracker. The flavor is not as complex, but that is hardly a fault. I do get some heavy coffee flavors as well as some roasted malt, oak and bourbon. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A great barrel-aged imperial stout.

Enjoyed at the Thirsty Dog tasting room on draft. Snifter. Big, black pour with a tan head that lasted for only 30 seconds. No lacing. Bold aroma with dark chocolate, mild coffee, cocoa nibs, bourbon barrel oak, vanilla, and roasted malts. The taste was heavy roasted malts, bourbon barrel (but not overly booze), charred oak, slight smoke, vanilla and a hint of spices. Full body, mild oily, Finish is bourbon and oak with vanilla. Very very good.

Bottle. Dark cola color with no head. Toasted oak, peanuts, chocolate, and just a touch of bourbon. Rich palate, light carbonation. Really nice finish and complex flavor profile.

Bottle thanks to awlcordell. Pours opaque black with a small creamy dark brown head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is dark roasted malt, bourbon, cocoa, dried fruits, vanilla. Flavor is much the same, well balanced barrel notes contribute but do not dominate. Lightly sweet, medium roasty bitterness, coffee & vanilla on the finish. Full bodied and creamy. Lightly warming finish due to ABV.

Nice toasted coconut aromas, beautiful head, but which recedes rather quickly. Flavor: bourbon very present, but not much burn from it. Very nice. Dark bitter chocolate late on the palate. Definitely needs to be served at its recommended temp. Would like a little more refined mouthfeel; the bourbon is thinning to the mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At Gingerman NYC with Taylor. Pours black with very minimal head. Aroma is fresh barrel, muted roasted malt, with slight booze. Taste is a burst of various flavors. I really like this, it is interesting and complex. Nice oaky barrel, boozy bourbon that melds with the beer and does not overpower it, dark/burnt roasted malt notes that meld with the barrel and booze in a complex way, there is a slight light malt reach barley note in there too, finish is marshmallow barrel chocolate snooze that stays strong for a long time and final ends with nice booze and charred notes. Fantastic, and completely unexpected.

@ Chief Market / Lima OH --- Opaque black with a thick brown head that drops to a solid cover, streamers of lace. Taste is as big as the 11% abv implies: Full roasted semi-sweet chocolate malt that adds vanilla and becomes bolder in the palate, moving to a finish that is both bitter and bourbon. A huge drink that is impossible for me to finish comfortably (12 oz bottle) in one sitting. Well-conceived, and well-balanced.
