Tap sample at CBW 2011. Poured hazy light brown color with an average creamy light brown head that lasted with good lacing. Good complex bourbon, ginger and spice aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy complex bourbon spicy flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Complex standout brew for style.

On tap. Pours with a clear bronze body and a tan head. Aromas of barrel, spices, cinnamon, vanilla, lightly estery, floral and caramel. Flavors are spicy, cinnamon, vanilla, caramel, oak and barrel. Full bodied with medium bubbles. Tannic character from the barrel in the finish.

Mahogany colored pour with a small khaki head. The nose is quite spicy with tons of all spice, clove, and nutmeg notes. A nice sweetness of vanilla, bourbon, and caramel. A hint of gingerbread, too. Tastes like bourbon and gingerbread. A bit of all spice and nutmeg, some sweet toffee, caramel, and vanilla, too. A touch of alcohol and oak, a little bit of candied dark fruit, too.

Bottle. Poured hazy ruddy muddy brown with minimal tan head. Nose was earthy malt, X-mas spice, oak, figgy fruit. Tasted fruity, earthy, oaky and woody, with nutmeg, cinnamon, and notes of brown sugar, figs, and a fruity finish.

Sample at The Pub during Christmas In July as part of Ohio Brew Week. The beer pours a slightly hazed reddish-amber color with a thin and dense light beige head that diminishes steadily. Thin rings of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, malt and sweet spices. Full-bodied and smooth with flavors of cinnamon, bready malt, ginger and bourbon. The finish is boozy with a malty and spicy aftertaste. Above average overall.

Tap at Brew Kettle. Awesome! Cinnamon, bourbon, sweet caramel, and a bit of chili heat. This is so good!

Slightly hazed brown pour with off white head and lace. Aroma of sweet malt and carrots. Sweet spicy malt with a hinto heat and some oak. Medium body and a tad fizzy.

Magnum bottle courtesy of goryshkewych. Cheers, George! Pours a hazy brown with a white head. Nose is big caramel, spice, ginger, vanilla, and honey with wood and vanilla. Flavor is similar- huge caramel, big ginger, some spice, vanilla, and oak. Medium in body and a noticeable alcohol presence.

Sample at The Pub during OBW on 7/13/11. Pours a clear copper/brown color with a medium beige head. Caramel malt aroma with lots of ginger and cinnamon along with an oaky vanilla and boozy note. Caramel malt flavor with bourbon burn before moving to cinnamon and ginger. Then it’s back to smooth and rich caramel malt for the finish.
