Magnum bottle courtesy of goryshkewych. Cheers, George! Pours a hazy brown with a white head. Nose is big caramel, spice, ginger, vanilla, and honey with wood and vanilla. Flavor is similar- huge caramel, big ginger, some spice, vanilla, and oak. Medium in body and a noticeable alcohol presence.

Sample from 1.5 L bottle @ Jungle Jim’s Barrel Aged Beer fest. Pours a clear dark amber with a small, thick beige head that disappears quickly. The nose is caramel, honey, ginger and other spice and boozy bourbon. The flavor has more big Christmas spice, caramel, vanilla, bourbon and booze. This was a little too hot and I would never buy it in the large bottle format, but worth trying once (more if on tap).

Murky amber color with a small beige head out of the bottle. Strong spice and bourbon nose. Great warming bourbon sense to this beer. Cinnamon, nutmeg, bourbon and vanilla notes. Full flavored beer with a nice use of a barrel.

Sample from a 2011 magnum, towards the end of a big bottleshare. Mildly hazy amber brown color. Minimal off-white head. Awesome bourbon aroma, works wonderfully with the winter spice aromas (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg). Good honey and maple syrup notes. Bigger body, good dry texture, lighter carbonation. Great beer. Yes. Tastes like Christmas.

Big ol’ magnum shared by markwise at RBWG, poured an amberish dark brown color with aromas of oak, booze, light spice, and aome veggies. Flavors were oak, bourbon, and light spice. Thanks for sharing Mark.

Smells like a boozy christmas...ginger and cinamon with bourbon. Hazed amber color with off-white head. Cinamon, ginger and bourbon again, a great winter warmer.

Bottle given to me for my 40th, enjoyed at the mayors ball. Hazy brown pour with a light head. Vanilla, bourbon, musty wood, and caramel in the nose. Very nice flavor. Very well balanced. Vanilla, wood, light, light bourbon, a touch of lightly oxidized caramel and a touch of spicyness...nutmeg perhaps. Quite enjoyable. Creamy mouthfeel with plenty of carbonation. Let me also note a bit of ginger.

1.5 L on Christmas Eve with Dad. Great way to spend some time with family by sipping on the big guy. Pours hazy, rust brown, dense off white head. Sticky lacing on my class. Nose of bourbon, peat, cinnamon, pear, ginger. Once you’ve taken a sip, esters, sweet honey, bourbon, cinnamon and interesting spiciness pulls through on a long finish. Low to medium carbonation. Quite balanced, nice as the barrel aging wasn’t an overkill. Solid beer. Will revisit in a few years with some age on another big guy.
