COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is made with one grain and 4 Belgian yeasts, a deceptive golden color, and a malty palate lend complexity to this Belgian Trippel Ale. ABV = 10%, IBUís = 31, OG = 23.1 P

The three headed Hellhound of Greek Mythology, that stood at the gates to Hades, lends his name and three heads to this elegant, full bodied Belgian Style Trippel Ale. A deceptive golden color and wonderful malty palate bring bold complexity to this big brew.

Aroma is floral, honey, sugar, spice and tannins. Orange glow, not much head. Flavor is sweetbread headed for sourdough. A real sugar bomb is what I mean to say. Also, too boozey for its body and thinner consistency. I like tripels, nut this oneís not my thing.

A bit darker than average with its amber looks, but covered by a nice tight off-white to pale beige foam. Fairly fruity in the nose, having the usual banana esters, but also some interesting white grape notes which pair with the hefty alcohol component to give a vinous kick to this honeyed tripel. Soft herbal hops do give a spicy kick where the yeast is not all that characterful except for its fruity hints. On the palate, the active carbonation is fitting although larger bubbles would have been expected. The carbonation nonetheless manages to dry the palate out a good bit making it seem fortunately drier than it really is with its full honey-like, almost biscuity maltiness. A fair Tripel, on the fruity side of things, but pleasantly balanced.

Bottled. Poured medium golden with a dense, well-retained off-white head. The aroma picked up bright white pepper, clove, and floral (lavender?) spicage over bready malts.. light green apple and other light fruits showed as it warmed.. spicy and warm. The flavor found honey-kissed biscuity malts on the warm core.. tacky spices (black pepper and darker fruits above all else) around.. finished with peppery spicage and alcohol warmth.. tasty stuff! Medium-plus bodied with lower carbonation.. spicy and engaging.. I enjoyed it.

12oz bottle. Thin white head. Totally hazy orange amber color. Yeast particles floating about. Little lace. Nice light crisp carbonation, dry texture. Bigger body. Caramel, belgian yeasts, candi sugar. Little alcohol taste, not too much. Hint of smokiness. Nice bitter spicy taste, some savory. Nice to sip - a well done tripel. 10% ABV is well-hidden.

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours cloudy murky yellow brown. Aroma of Belgian yeast, toffee, candy floss, candied sugar, fruity. Flavour is the same. Medium bodied. Nice example of the style.

Poured into a snifter. 4.0 A: Clear orange until I got to the yeast, then moderately hazed orange amber color. Yeast particulates at bottom of glass. Just one finger of frothy off-white head. Retention is lacking, but a good sized ring of lacing is left. 4.5 S: Wonderfully spicy with white pepper, clove, and hints of corriander. Mildly yeasty. Flowery hops with a touch of herbalness in there as well. Somewhat sugary with peach, pear, and apple fruitiness. Very well done. 4.0 T: Tastes like the nose, but perhaps a bit less impressive. Peppery with lesser clove and corriander from the yeast with a moderate yeastiness. Flowery and sugary with hay like earthiness joining the scene. Peach, pear, and apple fruitiness again. Booze well in check. 3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good carbonation level and while it is somewhat spritzy, it isnít spritzy enough. Good creaminess though. 4.0 D: Tasty beer. I only wonder if Iím rating this higher than I should since I havenít had a decent tripel in ages. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-10-2012 02:52:44

12oz bottle - pours clear bronze with thin off-white head. Nose is alcohol, pear and caramel malts. Flavor adds desert fruit and more alcohol. Taste is sweet, real sweet. Dry finish that will make me snore all night. It almost tastes like soap in a weird way, but keeps me wanting more. Clive Barker couldnít have made a better beer if he tried.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small beige head. Yeasty and fruity aroma with some herbal notes. Nice yeast flavor with soft fruit (very little banana) and earthy herbal notes. Not overly sweet and the alcohol is well hidden.

Very good tripel. It seems like it has more yeast than others. And itís way sweeter than any other tripel I had. Worth a try.
