3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle from six-pack, Andersons, Columbus, OH. Hazy gold-orange, creamy white head, strong lacing. Aroma is a dead giveaway for the citra, and lots of it. Citrus, toast, pine, caramel. Verging on over-hopped but this has a solid malt backbone and body that do stand up well. I’m a big fan of Thirsty Dog and this is another above-average offering from them.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Undated 12 oz bottle served in a snifter.
Pours hazy amber, with a modest off-white head.
Aroma: a load of Citra hops yet some bready malts are also apparent.
Flavor: Follows aroma: fruity and herbal, with a substantial hop hit starting towards the finish. Despite a moment of rather high bitterness, this diminishes nicely in the aftertaste.
O: Citra Dog indeed.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour from a 12oz bottle. Clear orange amber brew with one finger of head. Great aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. Taste is a light but distinct malt at the start transitioning to a great combination of citrus, pine, tropical fruit and other hops flavors. Excellent.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle
A nice local IPA adds variety to a crowded market. While it might not be the best example of the style its approach provides a new perspective on how to teach an old dog new tricks. I would probably skip this in the future in lieu of something from Hoppin’ Frog, TBK, or Fat Heads but it was worth the cost of a single bottle.
Aroma / Appearance - A dense head surges until it overwhelms the shaker. Finally it collapses into a warm mandarin base that glows with life. Resin, orange slices, chocolate dipped citrus peels, and a tickling of malt round out a beer which is surprisingly earthy.
Flavor / Palate - Unfortunately all the promises of excellence fall flat after the first sip. Butterscotch, old orange peels, canned citrus, and a growing malt bill tie down a resiny and bitter IPA. Lacking the punch of other local interpretations it settles for second best. Your mileage may vary; pick one up if you see it on sale.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thirsty Dog presents: a decent ipa with decent balance. I didn’t find this particularity great; I thought the bitterness interfered with the overall composition. Not one of Thirsty Dog’s better beers.
