Hoppy aroma. Balanced with a good crisp body and a strong, dry, bitter hoppy finish.

Pours a chameleon color: it’s actually a lighter gold in the light, a darker gold toward amber away from it, hazy with some sediment, and a really huge and quickly forming rocky off-white head that stacks up tall and leaves some intricate clumpy lace. Nose presents as an intensely dry floral pine combo with some grapefruit peel and a dash of sweet grain. If there’s any sweetness, the bitterness completely covers it up, and some tartness actually shows up. Lighter bodied, lots of carbonation, with a puckering dry finish. It doesn’t look or act like what you’d expect of an amber. Not sure on the freshness of the bottle I got, but the hops are fairly in your face for a mere 43 IBUs. It’s almost like a ginger ale. Beer cocktail folks could do something with this and gin. It’s a fairly decent brew in its own right, but definitely a surprise.

Clear copper. Hops dominate. Lingering bitterness that’s a touch on the harsh side. Expected amber maltiness, but this is a hoppy beer first.

I really liked it, but wasn't sure whether to rate it as an Amber(what it said on the bottle) or a Pale Ale(what it tasted like). Too malty for a Pale; too hoppy for an Amber...still enjoyed drinking it though.

Pours a dark amber with small white head. Smells of hops and a little citrus. Strong flavor. Pine, little citrus, and lots of hops keep your palate occupied. Overall good beer. Thirsty Dog proves themselves time and time again.

Bottle. Pours a nice clear amber. Hoppy, clean and solid. More of an APA to me.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a moderate white head. Nose has a hint of hoppy bitterness to it with caramel malts coming in the forefront. Taste is a little bitter and feels nice and crisp. Good brew.

12 oz. Bottle. More like a one and a half IPA. Stronger than a single, but IMO not quite a double. Sweet citrus hop to piney perfume scent. Bubbly white foamy head over a dark copper, clear pour. Light/med body with a crisp feel. Pine bitter hop flavor to sour citrus note (brief) settling on a meld of both flavors.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 joshwoodward (239) - - OCT 19, 2012
NOTE: This was a firkin that was dry-hopped with some extra simcoe. Solid brew, but a little on the generic side. Well-balanced, tasty, easy-to-drink.
