3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a soft and coppery red with two fingers of sandy tan head. Very very interesting aroma and flavor. I get a lot of characters that I expect from a port of madera. Lots of dried dark fruit, prune and raisin. Malt forward for sure with some burnt sugar and dark caramel. Bready notes with some herbal hop notes. A pretty savory beer, enjoyed this one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Amber pour with a nice red hue. Very nice head and lasting lacing. Nose is of toast, nut and caramel sweet malt. Light bodied with medium carbonation. The flavor profile is a laid back blend of malt flavors that ends up being nicely complex and balanced. Like the nose, toast, nut and caramel float over a slight sweetness. The finish is smooth and at the end, Goldings are detected. A solid red ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a bottle. Pours ruby red with a white head. Good lacing. Aroma is rich caramel malt and popcorn. Flavors are buttery caramel with nutty notes. Mild hop bite with a hint of dark chocolate in the finish. Medium mouthfeel with fairly high carbonation. This ale is not terribly complex. The flavors are very straightforward--malty and nutty. It’s not bad at all. In fact, I rather like this ale. But it falls short of being truly great.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a reddish copper with a medium white head. It has a sweet sugar aroma with a hints of roast hops. It has a medium sweetness with a hint of bitter. The body is medium with a thin texture. I’m not a fan of Irish ales but this is a very drinkable beer at 5.9% ABV, and I love that it’s easy to find in Ohio.

12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a murky amber with a white head of foam that dissipates quickly. The aroma has interesting vanillaand toffee notes. Kinda reminds me of whisky. The taste is sweet for sure. Pretty enjoyable.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle. (Jungle Jim’s) Fairfield, OH.
My girlfriend chose this one for me.
Clear amber colour with a small white head.
Sweet malt, hops, candies and some darkness in the aroma.
Dark malt in the flavour. Not very interesting.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Malty, earthy, with a bit of pine and hops. The finish, however, thins out a bit. Not bad, but missing something.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, this ale had a clear dark red pour with faint bronze-brown hue at the sides of the glass (there was some particles in the pour) and made a one finger faint off-white head that recedes to thin cover with small open spaces and a ring, the glass had a medium flowing center stream, it left some nice spots of lacing on the sides of the glass, there was no sediment in the bottle.
There were aromas of toasted malt, some caramel like notes, malt and bread sweetness.
This drink had flavors of toasted malt, caramel and faint bread, the finish had a light bitterness with malt flavor trailing afterwards.
the mouth feel was light with average carbonation, it was a nice drink.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Flipdaddy’s in Mariemont, served in a pint glass. Pours a clear but dark-ish orange-red color with a small white head. Not a whole lot of aroma or flavor, but smooth and easy to sip. Notes of toasted and amber malts, faint fruit, a little earth. Everything is subtle here. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth, thin mouthfeel. Works for what it is.

12oz bottle, from my local Kroger. Clear dark red / brown color. Thin off-white head. Little loose lace. Medium body. Smooth, light carbonation. Very easy to drink.. Flavor is basic and subtle, but nice. Chocolate malt, earthy hop, little spiciness, very light fruity. Some sweet taste. Very light bite. Good to enjoy with a sandwich. Good, straight-forward Irish ale.
