3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep golden pour with a thick, sticky, white head. The nose is quite clean. A kiss of light pale malt and a bit of fairly prominent herbal hop aroma. A little bit of earthiness with a light metallic note (this fades with time). Nice, clean palate with a bit of soft sweet pale malt. Herbal hoppiness and a kiss of light lemon as well. Moderate bitterness. Fresh and quite tasty. It’s a pretty solid dortmunder.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 ounce bottle from Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, VA. Pours a hazy orange color with fine suspended particles. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, butterscotch, butter, toasted malts. Taste is butterscotch, green apple and other fruit notes, caramel and an odd tart note. Medium bodied. Really and odd beer. A shame, I was looking forward to this one.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at the Ohio University Inn & Conference Center during the Thirsty Dog /Cheese/Chocolate Tasting as part of Ohio Brew Week. Surprised I hadn’t actually had this before. The beer is a clear golden color with a thin white head that bubbles away to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of grainy malt and hops. Light body with flavors of grassy hops, sweet bready malt and a touch of fruit. The finish is crisp and mildly hoppy, and has a fruity aftertaste. Pretty average overall, but did go well with the cheese.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Had it, tasted like a pale ale. Not the worst american lager and not the best. Not as 100% traditional as I wold have liked.
