2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 ounce bottle from Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, VA. Pours a hazy orange color with fine suspended particles. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, butterscotch, butter, toasted malts. Taste is butterscotch, green apple and other fruit notes, caramel and an odd tart note. Medium bodied. Really and odd beer. A shame, I was looking forward to this one.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at the Ohio University Inn & Conference Center during the Thirsty Dog /Cheese/Chocolate Tasting as part of Ohio Brew Week. Surprised I hadn’t actually had this before. The beer is a clear golden color with a thin white head that bubbles away to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of grainy malt and hops. Light body with flavors of grassy hops, sweet bready malt and a touch of fruit. The finish is crisp and mildly hoppy, and has a fruity aftertaste. Pretty average overall, but did go well with the cheese.

Had it, tasted like a pale ale. Not the worst american lager and not the best. Not as 100% traditional as I wold have liked.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Lemon and corny barley malt aroma. Clear golden yellow color with moderate head. Mildly sweet barley malt and lightly bitter herbal hops flavor. Not bad - a decent Dortmunder.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
12oz bottle. 6%, sort of on the high side for a lager, right? Clear light orange color, minimal head that fades to nothing, some bubbles on the side of the glass. Particles floating in the body. Moderate, pronounced but smooth carbonation, more dry finish. Boring lagery taste, a little skunky... Pretty disappointing, isn’t obviously high-quality like Great Lakes and Stoudts Dortmunders are. Light savory, sort of a salty bite, intrusive light bitterness. Not a good lager, not easy to drink
