Pours a hazy gold with a white frothy head. Aroma of apples. Flavor follows, green apple, hay, sticky, not clean, do like the yeast note on the finish though, sweet. Again odd body, fluffy carb.

12 ounce bottle - $2.49 at Total Wine & More in Greenville, South Carolina. Appearance: Dispensed a gold body displaying good clarity with about an inch of white suds. Smell: A light touch of softly bready, cereal sweet maltiness. Even lighter in the hop department, just a faint bit of lemon and dried herb. Subdued yeasty vibe throughout. Taste: Sweetish tasting cereal malts. Very modest hops expressing a little lemon and light florals. Near nil bitterness. A bit of sweetness remains on the somewhat languid finish. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-low carbonation. Overall: Uninspired. Not so great in the flavor department, could use more crispness and it’s overpriced to boot.

Draught @ Albion. Clear rich yellow with small off-white foamy head, faint malt aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish bread taste, abrupt finish. Decent, not special.

Bottle from a mix-a-six at Giant Eagle I procured while home in Cleveland last week. This is a pretty good rendition of the style, although I’m admittedly not a huge fan of lagers aside from the cheap pissy sort that I’m nostalgic for.

Tallahassee, Fl. - Growler Country, on tap. Sparkling, medium golden pour, soft white head, very brief lacing. Fresh, grainy aroma, hints of wort and some buttery accents. Crisp, refreshing flavoring with some light bready notes, some breakfast cereal sweetness, some buttery accents and just a light touch of saffron spiciness. Mouthfeel is crisp and full. Very solid Helles.

12oz bottle - nose is malty. Sip adds more malts. Toasty beer for mowing the yard. Easy to drink.

phaleslu (9017) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 7, 2014
12 oz. bottle from The Party Source. Pours a mostly clear gold with some carbonation bubbles throughout and a small white head that instantly fades into a small film and moderate ring. Notes of pale and bready malts, crackers, hay, and grass. Flavor is the same, but slightly sweeter. A lot of malts in this one. Light-bodied, with medium-plus carbonation and a malty mouthfeel. Nothing spectacular, but gets the job done.
